He certainly covered all his bases in that description! Makes you think though - how many ABU 1912H pennies ended up at the bottom of the Atlantic? Guess it all depends when they were first issued.

See, that is the key to selling crap coins: overmarketing.

That is like over here in the US, you can buy dateless buffalo (Indian head nickels) in bulk for about 6-7 cents, but you can sell it to people who make jewelry and get about 10-20 cents per coin

I've always wondered how well coins would sell if not advertised as a "coin" but an artifact of the period. For common, crap coins, I'm sure they'd sell quite well.

This part of the listing made me laugh

Please note that we will send this coin out to the successful bidder by way of insured delivery given the obvious value and novelty of this product.

NOVELTY a fake coin on eBay is never a novelty

Wow... just... wow. I have no words for that listing.

It's been taken down, it seems.

I sent the seller an email letting them know that brass is golden not gold.

Really?

Another one with the correct legend used in error. There's a real danger that soon, most legends will be correct.

He forgot to mention it was the 3 lions to date!

What an awesome English type set! I mean, what could be more English about it?

I mean, the box is totally from the Royal Mint, I mean, its initials are SAM right?

The 1 cent coin is totally British.

And a 25p crown totally goes well with a enameled Gothic Florin, a 1964 shilling, threepence and florin.

And all of this is completely reasonable for $69! The professional label of this one of a kind set totally makes it worth it!

As a nipper my Great Uncle Arthur lived in Southampton and through his shipping connections had access to 1000's of foreign coins.

He never sorted them but just apparently kept them in a large box.Every time he visited my grandfather he would bring me a large bag of coins(and a £5 note :D )

There must be pikey in me (like Scott :P )but I was happy to sift through these and ID them.I am now the proud owner of a Danish 10 ore 1947 coin which is extremely rare. :)

I feel a bit awkward about going through dealers junk boxes(I would love to)

Right that is my confession I am a coinaholic. :D
