And the problem is? NGC have correctly identified it as a penny. :)

I s’pose we should be grateful for small mercies ?.

But at least you get an "illustrated certificate of authenticity"!

I bought a coin a few weeks ago that came with a COA. The coin was a class 7b1 coin. The COA said it was 7c. It went in the bin ?.

Just a laminated print off lol.

I hope you got a refund?

No. I knew what the coin was when i bought it. I'd of bought it without the COA regardless. Strangely it was correctly identified online but not on the COA.

They add very little value to a purchase really as its not like its a COA from somebody at the British museum. Suppose they are intended to give people peace of mind but if any joe bloggs can write one and print it off they are in theory not worth the paper they are printed on.

I found this site by accident and think this is extremely worrying, and the guy running the show is so *****g cocky about it! He views it as "artwork".

I don't think there is much to worry about given they don't resemble the real thing.

Most people running their own enterprise exude self-confidence. Nothing new in that. when was the last time you saw someone advertise themselves as not the best, just a typical person providing a decent service/product. Everybody positions themselves as expert/specialists - but can't all be the best.

Sorry Rob, I disagree with you. Some of these fakes are very realistic - have a look these hammered ones:

Ok, the Civil War pieces are more realistic (didn't see those). An Elizabeth I 6th coinage groat doesn't exist, though it does look suspiciously like a shilling.

I was going off the gallery pictures which are all obviously wrong. The images with a partial picture won't load for me when I click on them - just keeps cycling? The links above do however.

I agree, I don't like the El.1 2d as it is too realistic.

Just seen this line.

'Unless specifically noted, all of the pictures in my catalog are actual historical coins I use as models for my work.'

Which would suggest that what you see is not what you get. Certainly from the gallery there is nothing to worry about as they are obvious copies.

Not very often I post something here, but this one is complete b******s. Silver, unlikely. Genuine, absolutely not. All Wulfhere stycas have his title. And in any case the lettering should frighten anyone away, so unsurprisingly, it's a private listing.

I steer well clear of them. Anything bright and shiny with that similar lettering is a no go for me. Some of them look like they were made with a soldering iron.

At least half of his many wares are modern fantasy pieces and fakes, all claimed as ancient, and he has massive positive feedback. He has the same supplier as Saxby I suspect. I have little sympathy for the idiots who buy this tat, but really he belongs behind bars.
