Attributed by NGC as P-1342, which iirc is standard circ 1806. I peg it as a KP 31 pairing, based upon imperfect 1 and 0 in date. Base of 1 missing, top of 0 is open. KP 31 gives us the following possibilities: P-1325 is gilt P-1326 is bronzed P-1327 is copper .... so one of these three. Not gilt, I think just standard copper, but maybe it's bronzed, I certainly am not too sure there. I tried to crop pic for the site, but results are not very clear. Best to download the catalog. I didn't manage to look at it when I was there, but I wonder why CNG called it "blazing", usually an adjective for full proof red lustre, whereas NGC graded it as a BN! NGC's pictures are working again, much easier to see details from my NGC link above. Clearly the date has incomplete 1 & 0 from the pics on there. oldcopper Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 I liked Neil's statement in the intro to the fixed price list: (from memory it was) "the undoubted star of the copper section is the 1827 penny". The "copper section" consisted of two coins - the 1827 penny and a £150 NEF cartwheel penny. So I can't argue with that assertion! 2 Quote
