Unwilling Numismatist Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 And then try and figure out which pairing it is. Please could someone provide any thoughts on my efforts! Today I thought I'd have a bash at one of my washer-like 1860's. I guess I needed some pain. I've only got a thought that this is reverse B, I haven't started on teh obverse yet, this has taken me ages to get to, so I hope I'm close - but there isn't much to work on, so 2 images: Quote

Rob Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 NURSE!!! COME QUICKLY!!! Your sanity is precious, please don't abuse it. 2 Quote
Unwilling Numismatist Posted February 1, 2018 Author Posted February 1, 2018 Ah, but I'm not that insane, there is a hint of bead or two on the border, the sea doesn't meet the linear circle, the remnant of rock or lighthouse base and shape are discernable and the exergue is quite distinct in it's upps and downs. That's how I see it. Anyway, I'm off to invent de-hydrated water next. Quote

Unwilling Numismatist Posted February 1, 2018 Author Posted February 1, 2018 Probably. But while I'm stuck indoors, the pennies are being scrutinsed (at least until something shiny drops through the letterbox). Quote

Unwilling Numismatist Posted February 2, 2018 Author Posted February 2, 2018 You're just taunting me now At leat I have a mental note (scar) for where the line is for "shall I bother". 2 Quote
blakeyboy Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 They told me to get out more. I did that, and they told me to stay in more. My teacher says I'm special- that's a good thing, right? Quote
Unwilling Numismatist Posted February 2, 2018 Author Posted February 2, 2018 My girls get me cards to a "special" dad ... they add the quotes, does that count? 1 Quote
blakeyboy Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 I went to a good school- it was approved..... It was rough, though- the only one in our area with it's own Coroner... 1 Quote
Unwilling Numismatist Posted February 3, 2018 Author Posted February 3, 2018 It's nearly as flat (as roadkill) I figured if I didn't get anything useable from the reverse there isn't much point continuing. Quote

Unwilling Numismatist Posted February 10, 2018 Author Posted February 10, 2018 (edited) And in this weeks issue of WTF, you call THAT a Penny... we have this lovely example of an 1877. So quick, before they put me back in the nice white jacket that does up at the back.... Is it a reverse H (sea and thn lighthouse, thats my best shot). DrP Posted February 11, 2018 Posted February 11, 2018 Worth it's weight in copper. I don't usually throw anything away.... but where do you draw the line? Apart from the 1860 date it is a blank copper disk nearly. :-( Quote
