  1. Wouldn't mind a copy of that as well. Nice.
  2. Yes it was but noticed the amount of fakes!!!
  3. It is the coin design that I find stunning, and for me that would be an amazing piece. If you find it so repugnant that you have to belittle another member who admires it and makes a nice comment then why have it. Surely you buy what you are happy with. I still say its a stunning coin, it has had a life and the design is breath taking. My own opinion for what that's worth of course!!!!!
  4. That is an absolute stunner of a coin Rob. No idea how I missed this when you posted it. Stunning
  5. I know I will get my money back so have no worries there. But just annoyed that I have been told to wait till the 15th then they can sort something out. He told me via the Ebay messaging service that he has already sold it and was suprised to see my message. I am not a bloody mind reader for idiots. My wife being who she is decided to look into the other seller who is now selling the same coin. He has actually used these pictures before and sold the coin at the end of September. He then split the pictures into 2 and relisted the same coin a few weeks later, and so on.... Don't know what the scam is but definately something a little dodgey going on there!
  6. Well found out were it went: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RARE-UNDATED-20P-COIN-GENUINE-MULE-MINT-ERROR-/182306132338?hash=item2a724ad172:g:RYgAAOSwmfhX7jiX
  7. I had assumed these had been his previous pics prior to having it slabbed, or that he had broken it out and had some paper work. However I was looking more at the coin and thought it looked better than many others up for sale. Reasonably clear fields and nice sharp detail.
  8. Well got the go ahead off the wife last week to buy an Undated 20p. Seen a nice example on Ebay, Undated 20p Coin No Date Mule Royal Mint Error VERY RARE CGS 70 Item no: 222271666303. Bid and won for a respectable price. On contacting the seller after paying instantly he said he was suprised to hear from me as he had already sold it and the buyer had recieved it today!!!!!!!! To add insult to injury he then said I could go on to PayPal and get them to refund, no "sorry I will Refund you straight away". I have asked him to explain why he is so shocked. He had it up on Ebay for auction. I beat other bidders to win it and he sells it somewhere else while the auction is ongoing. He has not replied.
  9. Think I am in the leave it alone camp on this one. I like the toned look of the coin prior to dipping. There is so much more life in the coin. The face has depth and a warmth that comes with the natural toning. The dipping has stripped that away and left a featureless silver. Just my personal opinion for what ever thats worth.
  10. This is a "Discussion" that has no winners. At the end of the day everyone is different. If slabbed coins is your thing then that is purely down to that person. CGS/LCGS are no better or worse than any other slabbing company and why should we be the same as the US. The UK grading system has always been different to the US system, why should slabbing from the UK not create a system that works here. I have never had any coins slabbed, although I do have 6 in CGS slabs. I have no preference for any grading company and at present am happy with my coins, I wont say RAW as that to me donates that my coins are somehow less than Slabbed coins, they are not. I am happy with my grading and anyone who has had coins from me I would hope would agree. Pete is a great guy and has been a brilliant abassador to new collectors and has helped out lots of people. He also has a passion for his genre of collecting so kudos to him for sticking to his principles. Also in response to the fact that slabbing makes coins more valuable, I can say from watching coins avidly selling in both auctions and in shops that they certainly do generate sometimes a substancial premium. Anyway, I put my feelings forward about CGS at its closure and reopenning as LCGS as I had been an avid user of their site and was swaying toward sending a few pieces in. But i made my feelings clear at the time and then left it. This continuous rant over and over isn't going to change things other then seriously miff people off. Well thats my two pennies worth.... have fun collecting folks
  11. Welcome to the forum.
  12. Hi Zakkil When it comes to the writing around the out rim of a coin it can be either readable with obverse (head) side up or reverse (tail) side up. The way in which the coin outer inscription is done has no bearing on orientation. Also there are so many errors on modern decimal coinage, especially over the past 10 years, that minor flaws and errors that would have made a major difference in pre decimal (Duodecimal) coinage just do not have the same impact or collectability, unless major or very unusual ones. Photo's would be great as that would help to see if this is the case. I collect both Decimal and Predecimal coinage and like Nordle states above good books are the way to go. You cannot go wrong with "Collectors Coins - Decimal issues of the United Kingdom 2016" by Chris Henry Perkins - ROTOGRAPHIC. The full range of books by Chris and the other writers at Rotographic are spot on. You can also buy digital versions to carry around on your mobile, etc... Just like studying and learning about your specimens or your Pokemon cards, the more you read up and learn the better your choices and the less buying mistakes when and if you come to purchasing coins. This forum is also a great place to learn with like minded and fair people. Welcome to the forum and happy collecting... Brian
  13. My George III 1799 Halfpenny, mines probably the bog standard , as just beeen taking my own photo's to show someone. Purely coincidence.
  14. No its crackled and and mostly indented. Very uneven. Will get some micro close-ups and pop them on a bit later.
  15. The Florin came from our good friend Pete. It makes a great edition to the collection. As for the halfpenny its flush, although you can see very slightly where the error is on the other side of the coin at the top.
  16. Some closer pics etc
  17. This one is a bit more tricky. Not sure if it is flaw or PM. I think it seems more like a flaw to me but maybe wrong. The coins is rubbish but I like it. A couple for this one
  18. Just been doing some more photo's and started doing a few errors. Nothing brilliant but here are a couple. Definitelt a mixed bag!!!!
  19. That is a beauty matt. Well spotted.
  20. Got sidetracked last night. Will come back in half an hour and see if I can add to this post....... Yes everything is fine now Matt. Edited 49 min after initial posting. Thank you.

  22. Hi Matt, No all I can do at the moment is "Quote" myself after I have left the initial post and moved onto another part of the forum, coming back to the post no Edit feature comes up. Cheers Brian
  23. I am fairly confident it is NOT an Open 3 just it is listed as one and there is definately something going on with the top of the 3. ********* Sorry I had to use the reply to add this. Have tried to update the above post but for some reason I can't edit my post************
