  1. Hi All Not my thing as I don't collect crowns but came across this and thought someone maybe interested. Seems like a good price to me, but not an expert!! http://www.delcampe.net/page/item/id,357355845,var,PIECE-GRANDE-BRETAGNE-1-CROWN-GEORGES-V-1927--15-000-EXEMPLAIRES,language,E.html Hope it helps someone.
  2. Yes there is. The small head being the rarer of the two. The small head is the same as the 1991 and the larger becomes the standard for this effigy until it changes.
  3. Hi All I have a bronze Victoria Diamond Jubilee Medallion without box but want to house it. The rest of my collection is slowly but surely going into Quadrum cases. Is there something out there for this size of Medallion/coin. It is 56mm. Advice gratefully accepted. Thanks Brian
  4. really not sure about price Pete, haven't managed to find anyone with it for sale yet! I know I will pay £5 for a reasonable one or more for one in pristine condition!
  5. I have been trying to get a nice example of the Dot to Dot 1992 10p for a while. The L I and A of ELIZABETH point to a bead and 1 of 1992 also points to a bead. I have all the other 4 variants and 2 light weight 1992 10p's both weighing 6.3g instead of 6.5g.
  6. Think if you have a good look around now you will find lots of Decimal Coin Collectors. Have a look at Facebook groups and dedicated decimal websites. I collect a bit of everything, main predecimal bronze and copper. Maybe the price is a little high but these prices are being realised so definitely a market for them and therefore a collector base. I certainly wouldn't turn my nose up at either as part of my collection.
  7. that's what I thought originally too!
  8. I was going to ask the same question!!!!!
  9. Congrats on the rare coins John. Hope you do really well with them. Jealous of both.
  10. Very informative article from Chris there. Looks as though he may have been a bit miffed at the time of writing it initially to!!! ? Thanks for the info guys. Knew I could count on you.
  11. If Chris is right about there being approximately 450 then I would say that is pretty rare. The sellers seems to have 2 very sort after decimal coins. I hadn't realised he had the first edition Olympic Swimming 50p too!!!! Very nice.
  12. I just noticed one of the 1983 Uncirculated sets on Ebay with the "New Pence" 1983 2p. I know its a rare coin but actually how rare is it??? Here is the link to the Auction. Would love to know more. Thanks all in advance http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161955652321?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D161955652321%26_rdc%3D1 Cheers Brian
  13. Here are a few more examples from 1919 and 1921. One of the 1919 seem to have some of both sides. I originally thought someone had tried to colour these but sure they are part of the same defect. Not quite as bitty more streaking!
  14. Well I also have a 1920 like Matts, not quite as well defined, but also on the reverse. I also have this 1921 with it on the Obverse only. Every time I have seen it It only seems to affect one side. maybe different weights of metal sinking to the bottom of the mix!!! Anyway here is mine. Just took it very quickly in a dull room and camera phone so sorry for quality! The effect always reminds me of Tortoise Shell.
  15. Looks more like a 1 under that 5 than any other number, were the bottom part has been totally removed and only the left hand top serif can be seen and the top part of the down stroke from behind the downward stroke of the 5. However there also seems to be something coming out from the back of the 5's curve. Strange!
  16. Nice one. Very Jealous Matt!!!!!! Still on the look out myself
  17. If anyone has a nice example of the Dot to Dot 1992 10p I am interested. Thanks.
  18. I have started putting all the older decimal coinage I get in my change to one side. At the rate the RM is melting it down there will be very little varieties left from circulation!
  19. I have been searching for a while. Not sure how many 1992 10p I have looked at now. Must be a fair few!!!!! Still no luck.
  20. Even it is just wear or fill doesn't really bother me. I am still looking for an example. I have been looking for quite a while and like Nordle haven't found anything near!
  21. Have to say i was bidding for the 1951! Had made my mind up that there definately wasn't any 1954!!!!!! Also still looking for an QEII with waves missing so buying a bulk lot here and there when its reasonably cheap isn't to bad
  22. Hi All, thought I would make sure I stuck this here as it has to do with PENNIES!!!!!!!!!!Dont want to upset any more of the natives. Anyway, was it anyone of the forum members who got this lot: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272094937969?ssPageName=STRK:MEDWX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1435.l2649 Would be very interested to see if there really was an 1954 Penny!!!!!!!(Think she may have made an error!!!) I bid but missed out at the end as I lost connection.
  23. Thanks guys. Appreciate that. I was most curious about the line above the 1. Cheers Brian
  24. Close up of the 2 features
  25. Hi All Got a bit of a curio and want to get everyones opinion. I noticed that there are a couple of unusual marks on this 1893 penny on the reverse. The dot between the trident and P of penny and also the line above the 1 in the date. just looking for general thoughts. Thanks Brian
