  1. Nutsaboutcoins, I was actually thinking about coming along to one of the Tyneside NS meetings, but was not sure how I would fit in or like yourself what I would get out of it. I suppose it would be a good chance to meet people with similar hobbies and interests. Its Gateshead where you meet isn't it.
  2. Just took your advice Peter after posting my own post. Got the answers I was looking for straight away. Cheers
  3. Hi All Took advice that Peter psoted on the last persons post and was given my answers. It is a Roman Egypt - Alexandria - Antoninus Pius AD 138-161 - AR Tetradrachm 13.88g Emperor head rt Tyche standing holding cornucopia and rudder year 4 - Koln 1332. Low grade Silver Billon. Will remember to look through all the posts first. Cheers

  5. And the Reverse
  6. Hi All I was given a load of coins today from a friend who found them in his fathers draw after he had passed away. He knew i collected so has given them to me. The majority are milled coinage that I am familiar with , however this one is a mystery me. I had a quick look in Seaby - Coins of Great Britain and think it maybe an Antonious Pius. But haven't a clue what type of coin. It is about the size of a shilling, quite thick with a reasonable weight. I think it could be silver. Any help would be appreciated
  7. Agree with all the above statements, Rash that is definately a truly magnificent collection and something I will most certainly be using as a point of reference. Thanks for sharing.
  8. Has anyone else noticed lines on the Obverse field on the new 20p as all 6 examples I have found so far all have them.
  9. I have both heads in 1p,2p,5p and 20p haven't found a 10p yet for the new effigy, although I have all the 2015 4th head upto £1, like Coinery, all in nice collectable condition too.
  10. I can't find them. Maybe its just me?
  11. Will check out here too ?
  12. Thats were I just bought my 4 trays from. Thanks again Pete, your a Gent.
  13. Just bringing this topic back as I have a question about capsules. I have most of my coins in 2x2 flips housed in sheets and have just started to think about getting the better coinage into Square Quadrum Capsules so i can house them into coin trays. I am planning on housing all my pennies first and have noticed that different places give diffeerent size for pennies. Some say you should use the 30mm and some say the 31mm. I know that bronze pennies should be about 30.8mm or so. Which one is right? Anyone use these for their bronze coinage? Any advice appreciated.
  14. Great find. Have sent this to s few of my friends already. Love the origin of words especially word enhancements!!!
  15. Thank you both for the information and price. Not bad for an extra I didn't expect. ? Cheers Brian
  16. The reverse. Thanks
  17. Hi All, I got this coin in with a few others I got a while ago. Not really a hammered collected so put it aside and just came across it. Interested in what it is and an idea of value. Any help is truly appreciated. Cheers Brian
  18. Both the 1948 coins shown in the 2 auction lots are the same coin. The 1949 coin is obviously different. The description state to look at the images and decide grade, etc.. For yourself. Obviously it is impossible to judge a coin if it is not the coin shown. That is my point.
  19. I have already sent him a private message. He stated that they are different coins but have the same colouring!!!! So have sent back a reply telling him they are one and the same coin. Black dot on hair above ear and dot on the field at about 11 o'clock just off the head. Will tell you how I get on. I am bidding on both lots now!
  20. Hi Al I am bidding on a coin a 1948 penny, nothing special but a nice coin to replace a a basic one I have. Here it is: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/381369860582?_trksid=p2060353.m1431.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT However, I noticed the seller also had a 1948 & 49 for sale too so that why not as both coins do look pretty nice. But when I looked closer it is exactly the same 1948. Here is this lot: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/381366396046?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I had a look at his description and the seller states clearly to look at the coin in the photo and judge condition. Surely he can't have 2 identical coins. Therfore how can you judge!! Would appreciate your thoughts and see if any of you have come across this before. Thanks Brian
  21. Think Coinery would have probably done a better job than me. I will have to learn how to start taking photo's of my coins!!!!!!!
  22. Hi Jacinbox Not sure its worth anyone buying as the coin is so worn. Nice to know it may have a premium. I think it is just a real curio. I have done some pics in Photoshops overlaying the Dot/Mark 1919 over the 1919 KN. I have coloured the mark in slightly red so it stands out a bit more. But it does definately line up with the N of KN very nicely. The for shows them exactly merged 50/50 the second I pulled the 2 apart to show a ghosting between them. Cheers Brian
  23. Hi Pete No worries. To me it is more the discussion and that I may have something, whether valueable or not, that is numismatically interesting. The coin itself is worn out, but my interest is to how and why the "dot/mark" is there. Was it from reused, Kings Norton dies, etc.. which had not been filled in correctly. If so its a great piece for the collection and helps me understand a little more about the history of the Royal Mint, etc.. Would love to know David's thoughts on the coin and have been really intrigued at the discussion so far from Matt, Vicky, Rob, Coinery, Jacinbox and yourself. Although lots of speculation its been really interesting seeing the range of idea's and thoughts. This group and the people in it are great. So pleased I joined. Thanks for the information you sent to my e-mail Pete. Once again appreciate all the help. Brian
  24. You are definately right about the Heaton Mint as it just doesn't fit at all. The N of KN does however.
