  1. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUPER-RARE-ONCE-IN-A-LIFE-TIME-AUCTION-FOR-OFFERS-1860-PENNIES-RARER-GOLD-/301834919230?hash=item4646c35d3e:g:0OMAAOSwJcZWf-O3 A bargain!
  2. from those pictures
  3. Cant say much about it
  4. or a slender 3
  5. Good luck could be a 2. But not an Open 3
  6. Time to start saving
  7. The coin is still given a grade JAC True but not the number if you see what I mean. It's like the American TPGCs they will say UNC Details but not MS^$RB for instance. Similarly CGS would say XF but not say CGS 70. I should have been a bit more clear :-) Any purchases of late?
  8. Welcome to the forum.
  9. Verdigris is a Green substance that sticks to coins, like rust does to iron. It corrodes coins and can hence have a serious say on what the coin is worth. CGS reject coins with verdigris. They will encapsulate the coin but won't give it a grade. I would reckon this coin will top at around £180.
  10. However one thing is for certain. The top part of the 3 does not conform to an Open 3 variety.
  11. As you can see your coin does not have a upward curve for the lower portion of the 3
  12. However the important thing is the lower portion of the 3 does not curve upwards at all. So I should say not the traditional open 3 but the 3 is definitely open. better pics would help.
  13. It does not look like a Open 3 But it looks very interesting. The Open 3 has a curved lower serif but this coin has a horizontal serif. Looks like a new variety to me.
  14. Good luck. I was watching this coin but it did not look like a open 3 to me. I might be wrong for you know what ebay pics are like.
  15. Damn Pete you beat me to that reply
  16. On a more serious note. I think it is a type. There is meant to be a colon after the F:D like F:D: The colon after the D is missing
  17. Is that not the point? That they are not there
  18. The top curve does not agree with an open 3. The bottom does though
