  1. We will just call it a RT error Jon as i dont have a clue
  2. I think its possibly a lamination error showing the coin struck through from the obverse due to the weaker flan........Not my theory just asked someone Although looking again that doesnt make sense as the head is lower
  3. My head is not right Zoo......but your going to send me beserk, what you looking at Maybe i am going really bonkers as just gone into a bit of a trance staring at it
  4. Nice thing about the 1897 Stu is theres a few different ones so may end up seeing a scarce one Although the one you bought £28.50 was off a forum member and he wouldnt miss anything as really knows his pennies
  5. I suppose its better than them taking it off and then rejecting it for cleaning Its like an auction company they wont touch the coin just list it as it is. They may of thought although it doesnt look nice there is nothing causing any damage so value £50 grade unc and job done. I wouldnt buy it and wouldnt of sent it in but someone elses coin ....so long as they are happy thats all that matters.
  6. Is it not just dirt or something on it ?.
  7. Yes.......NO CHANCE
  8. I only look at and focus on pennies so will leave that for the silver gang
  9. Think we might be grasping at straws Zoo i wasnt expecting it to be anything special but was hoping it would be a bit more than that. Maybe it is
  10. Thanks yes i have read the description but with there being know picture wondered what it looks like.
  11. Sorry to bring this back up but its bugging me now Does nobody have a clue what this Finger flaw is please or is it the one pictured at the top ?
  12. The thing with a dealer is they talk to you and I have learned more from dealers than anything else as they answer questions. Not sure what you mean by little challenge as we are buying a coin does it matter were it comes from if its what you want......maybe if you open the envelope and find out its RT. I mentioned there is nothing wrong with ebay and wish you luck
  13. As this is an ebay thread it all goes back to if you want something decent / valuable buy it from a dealer. You will eventually come unstuck and any saving you may make on a few will soon be wiped out on the bad one.Ebay serves a purpose and is good for cheap varieties etc but not high value,i use it almost daily ,a few days ago i bought a couple of pennies for £1 without getting out of the chair and does not cost anything to look
  14. No. sorry as feel it will attract people of unsavory character
  15. It was more to look for people i had heard of or coin dealers both of which i feel you could trust. After having a look i didnt realise so much was being done on there
  16. Good luck but after the weekend you have had i think i would check the others
  17. Yes if your lucky enough to find one early of anything supposedly scarce £1K + get rid of it
  18. Yes i have just read it Zoo although i have not looked before or at 1966 pennies. Maybe Dave will tell us ?.
  19. I had never heard of the Finger flaw Zoo . I dont have a clue what yours is either Zoo is it raised and wont blow off or just a dig Does anyone know or have a picture of this finger flaw one as intrigued to know why its called that. Pete.
  20. Nobody took any notice of me Gary untill i had them slabbed and was the only real reason for doing it. It was also why i sent two. If you look at pictures they are not always convincing.
  21. Surely its better to bid in increments until someone says they are out or time has elapsed with them not replying. I go back to the Colin Cooke way .....Just done on a much smaller scale. Counting down seconds sound daft although i bid £5 and someone else bids £20 and i cant come back is like some kind of postal bidding thing . Anyway its all about a bit of fun and something different that could be done with a group of people who trust eachother and share the same interests. Counting down seconds 10 seconds 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 Hammer noise Hat off to them all though and going to have to get on this facebook
  22. Are the facebook auctions done along similar lines to the colin cooke sales. Start day / end day you send a private bid and the seller just keeps ubdating it to a cut off ?. So no last second snipe which i assume is daft and not possible. How does it work please and do they sell just a few ?.
  23. I dont know if most on here dont use facebook like myself or dont want to post Must be a big coin market with millions of users , do you see dealers listing coins each week / month and if so are some of the coin groups large ? Surely anything is better than the Rang on ebay.
  24. What a fantastic reply and thank you for taking the time.....BIG HAT OFF. Keep smiling. Pete.
  25. Your loosing me Tim. Is the 1913 a limited one specially struck by the Royal Mint for Tuesday ?.
