  1. Seems to be sorted now but I'd prefer to avoid.
  2. To any buyers - please don't try to pay me via Paypal - there's something wrong with it and it won't allow me to correct it. Very strange.
  3. Just for information guys - I'm playing golf today and tomorrow so won't be mailing re costs/postage until Sunday. Thanks to those who have requested coins.
  4. I will also go down to my local post office to find out what the various options are for postage with associated costs so that buyers can choose what method they'd like.
  5. This afternoon I will sit down and work out who has asked for what, sort into order of timing, and indicate on the website which coins have been reserved. This is proving to be quite a demanding task - now I know what a coin dealer's life is like....... Please be patient.
  6. I probably ought to add that I'll restrict to UK buyers as I have no experience of shipping coins abroad.
  7. Thanks for the replies fellas. I will get around to responding to everyone tomorrow afternoon and where several people have asked for the same coin, I will offer on a first come, first served basis for fairness.
  8. I have decided to sell my spare pennies. I shall put them into auction next year but in the meantime I have created a website with prices should any of you wish to buy them upfront. There should be something for everyone in here. PM me if you wish to buy anything and we can arrange payment (preferably through bank transfer or Paypal). mysparepennies
  9. Does anyone know if Ron Stafford is still around ? I used to exchange letters but haven't heard from him for a few years.
  10. I'm not a million miles away (south oxon) and find that offer rather tantalising...........
  11. The latest email from Sovereign Rarities lists coins variously described as "Deep Cameo" and "Ultra Cameo". Are these places just trying to invent grades to get more money out of collectors ?
  12. And the king's moustache has been twirled on the right coin - or is it Hercule Poirot ????
  13. OK - I've just unplugged/replugged the modem and all is fine !
  14. No, I select English single lots - page 1; comes up but when I try to click on next page or any other page, screen just displays "can't be found."
  15. Is anyone else having trouble checking the realised prices ?
  16. Peter Nichols will always make you a couple of extra drawers, I'm sure.
  17. Hang on, the screenshot shows lot 72 and this thread is all about lot 74 !!!!!!!!!!
  18. Good news Pete. perfect timing for Christmas.
  19. To misquote my hero Tony Hancock, "It might be only a coin to you, Pete, but it's life and death to some poor (collector) wretch"
  20. There is at least one auction house (it may be Goldberg) that allow you to specify an incremental bid or halfbid in the event of your highest bid being matched. Seems a good idea. I still have a problem with the case you illustrate. If I submit a maximum bid of, say, £500, I expect the lot to go to at least the next bidding step to overbid me. I think that is a reasonable and logical assumption. So, when the auctioneer takes my bid of £480 in sequence and asks for a bid of £500, he should in my opinion have to take a higher bid to outbid my commission bid. But clearly, this doesn't necessarily happen.
  21. I think that this does happen (it's happened to me) but surely if I were the first person to bid £500, the auctioneer should be duty and morally bound to ask another bidder to go higher in order to win ?????
  22. Like I mentioned in the other thread, often an auctioneer will let a lot go to a room bidder who matches the maximum postal/commission bid - unethical in my view.
  23. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1861-Great-Britain-One-Penny-No-LCW-No-Signature-George-III-Penny-KM-794-2/263337867083?hash=item3d5028f74b:g:aPcAAOSwySlaFPJq George III in drag ???????
  24. Yes, but to state the obvious, this is an example of a different reverse variety rather than a variation of date spacing.
  25. Didn't know that fact before. Hope I'm a bit more polite when I snuff it.
