  1. Yep it will be a "sleeper" in mint state for years thanks to this hoard I saw one on a stall in a collectors fair recently and all i saw was £50 , I enquired and was told the price was £250 , I just walked away
  2. I really hope you dont dig up that jar of pubes hidden by mr christie .
  3. Didn't many saxon towns and villages grow up on roman ruins , I am sure this is correct statement - they also reused roman buidings when useful that is why roman london is not available as its under buildings in london . The hole could have been made at any time up to 200 years ago The brits have always had jewelry- I must admit the hole looks crudely done
  4. How the hell can you tell if or when a hole was put in the coin , I have to be honest and say it could be one of only 1600 years and you could narrow it down to that ,anything else is pure guesswork. Its true that this coin was handled by whoever yes , can you name them?I doubt it .
  5. I think you would find most coin collectors uninterested by this coin admittedly its quite late roman , but still poor quality and I would think apart from the interesting story of it being found , would be in a £5 rummage box
  6. Treasure? In your dreams
  7. If I remember rightly the romans considered porcupines a luxury food like larks tongues in aspic . Wrens' livers. Chaffinch brains. Jaguars' earlobes and . Wolf nipple chips. Some wild ones that escaped in roman times still live happily is sand dunes in the south of spain , lucky the locals never took to the flavour they prefer churros, LOL
  8. the silver items are a set weight so no need to weigh them ,just state the face value and show a pic
  9. Expensive hobby that damaging 1695 farthings
  10. Remember we have our own political token series from the bloodless revolution of william and mary . Very atractive and popular they are to this day as well - the so called pattern farthing series - they did however circulate as coins as well later on and might be considered legal currency , thats the reason they are often found in low grade
  11. Shoot the feckers

No thats a fishing port in north yorkshire , its definately looks nothing like that. LOL
  13. A night out on Twopence you surely have to go back to hogarths Gin lane period for that . I bet that stuff burned hole in tables lol
  14. You can usually pick one up with lustre for around a tenner - IMHO not worth bothering with in lower than VF but loads think different - not an investment for £1 but a bit of fun
  15. You can , just wait till this next monday
  16. Aparently the old pounds only have another week in circulation - I dont realy know about anywhere else but around here I would say at least two out of ten circulateing coins are round pounds . I can see this date being put back early in the week. Banks have no real interest in taking the coins out of circulation because they are not being paid for it
  17. much scarcer than most believe though it suffers from the lack of halfpenny collectors IMHO Stop after date more common on the farthings
  18. Yep worth scrap silver price now
  19. Strange looking reproduction - it apears worn you would think they might have touched it up a bit (ohhh matron ) before trying to sell these for cash .
