The fun part about losing things is that when you find them much later it is kind of a surprise. I rather believe that since HRH has declared that it is a lifetime job, and given her lineage, Princess Charles will be a caretaker Queen much like Edward VII was a caretaker for the 9 years he was King. It is too bad about Kate though, she would have made a lovely Queen for Prince William.

Being of my extraction, Scottish and Irish, I could find it right easy to dislike the British monarchy for what it stands for, but I can only have deep admiration for Her Majesty as a representative of her nation and people. In fact I believe she probably has the least desirable position of any which one could wish to aspire to, being that in the public eye at all time with exposure of all her traits etc. I personally believe she has been a remarkable monarch, and in fact ranks as one of the 5 greatest British monarchs ever, which happens to in my opinion be populated by at least three Queens. She made a remarkably favourable impression upon myself during her visit to the West Coast of the USA in 1982, so much so that Her Majesty changed my hot tempered opin of Britain Long Live the Queen! And Very Long May She Reign!

Several people tried that with the MGB's here in the USA, they replaced the motor with a V8, and whilst it did not catch fire, it was just too much for the car and it would eventually fall apart from the overload.

Oh so very rare here indeed, I must have the one and only one in my whole region: A '73 Jensen Interceptor. When I was a wee nipper, my Gram went and purchased a 1974 MGB convertible, it was almost as though she went through her second childhood when she turned 50. She drove the car lightly, and kept it until 1978 only putting 5.000 miles on it. I still lament heartily that she sold that car before my clutches could grasp it. The only weakness with the Morris was the famously lousy electrical cabling, which was thoroughly replaced due to chafing and shorts.

Fascinating little(15mm) token issued by William Warwick of Gloucester for his tavern in Gloucester. I love the raven image, very cute. This token was issued in 1650, and the Raven Tavern was known to still be thriving as late as 1675.

I have noticed it, because I am a buyer from mainly overseas eBay sites and rarely only USA sites. It just comes down to the stuff I collect and want is on eBay.co.uk or ebay.es. All of my last several purchases have come from the UK site, the Spanish site, or the French site. I have recently found it easier to not even bother with the USA main eBay.com site because it is a waste of time.

The US government is not going to eliminate any gold to stimulate the economy. If anything they are more likely to seize gold again like they did in 1933 and make gold ownership illegal once more.

That is an awesome site, with particular attention to recording where the coins were located when found etc. I think the most curious thing for me to see is how many Scots coins seemed to have been found in Northern England, even in Yorkshire etc, proving that despite official edicts prohibiting their circulation they seemed to have been accepted in commerce, especially in the 17th century.

Actually in the USA a well known British specialist is Allan Davisson, he briefly owned the gold Coenwulf penny. Right now I cannot find his website though, apparently it has been taken down - they are not big on the internet thing.

Actually my Gram, yes, my Gram, owned an MG Convertible when I was a mere lad. She sold it whence I was 13 yrs old, oh how I wisht she had kept it another 3 yrs and tendered it to moi Some imported them here and dropped small block 283 V8's in them and made monsters of them.

Reminds me of the time that Chap in Germany of all places, tried to sell his Triumph back in England, and I would have taken it lovingly, but my Lassie said no, and my government has import restrictions on such fine specimens of British motor engineering.

I hae many Scots bobs from 1959 sitting in the bags with the rest of them. Based solely on the image and the suggestion of a date in the lower portion of the reverse it has to be a Conder token from the mid 1790's. This appears as though it could possibly be from the Spence political series of tokens, in that condition with harsh cleansing it is worth only about 10p or so though.

Early 19th century counter or game piece, essentially a token for playing poker etc. Most likely ca. 1810-1825 or so.

Has to be a evasion piece, with English legends and the bust of George II which was likely used much later than his reign, ie probably ca. 1780's or so.
