  1. Thanks Pies, don't you hate it when you discover scratches or other blemishes for the first time when you photograph the coin!
  2. Coin 6 - 1893 Florin
  3. Coin 5 - 1821 Sixpence
  4. Coin 4 - 1821 Shilling
  5. Coin 3 - 1906 Shilling - Dies 2A?
  6. Coin 2 - 1899 Crown - LXIII - Dies 3E?
  7. Still strapped for cash, so sadly parting with some more milled silver. This batch I have deemed worth getting slabbed, anticipating that the extra cost involved will be more than recouped in higher-than-otherwise selling prices - my experience with this over the last 15 months or so gives me confidence that that will be the case. Some will go to eBay, others may be private sales. So once again I invite your comments and speculation as to the CGS grade they might assign, traditional non-numeric grade if you prefer, varieties, problems that might result in rejection, or anything at all! Coin 1 - 1902 proof half crown
  8. Thanks, I'm sure you are right Rob
  9. Spink lists no varieties for the 1687, but does anyone think there is something 'going on' with the '8' here? I know there is often something 'going on' with early milled, but I thought I would ask, perhaps a known variety not listed in Spink? I am rubbish at imagining what other number may or may not be involved! I would have this reverse at GF, any other opinions?
  10. Shaped? Aren't they both round? Do you mean it is smaller than normal? What's the diameter?
  11. Vigourously
  12. Just as long as there's no 'rim nicks', everyone hates those!
  13. I agree Pies!
  14. I have in my collection this very acceptable (imo) Matt Proof (imo) shilling. It is slabbed by CGS as AU but with 'field damage', they don't give any details ... can anyone spot any problems with it?
  15. Welcome along, umm ... 'Old Groat' ! It looks okay to me (from the pics), do you have any cause to doubt it?
  16. The perfect end-user experience! Posted on FB, ta
  17. Very interesting! And a well dressed shepherd!
  18. Did you know that 'sulphur' is now OFFICIALLY to be spelt 'sulfur' (and has been for some time) - I don't like us adopting silly American spellings and it feels faintly Orwellian - what next, aluminum???
  19. I think it's a good idea from them, until eBay manage to spot and ban it ... hats off to them I say! Mind you, I am probably only saying that because it's a coin club, not sure I'd want to see coins advertising silver bullion or summat as I trawl through!
  20. I have done as you suggested, hope I win
  21. Enterprising free advertising? link
  22. Ok, I'll bite. What is it, your 'best ever'? I don't know. Is that the best April Fool ever? I won't be trying it next year!
  23. UNC might be far from perfect in my book ... I like AS (As Struck) better! (which of course might be far from perfect too, but I prefer it nonetheless!)
  24. To illustrate an example of Rob's North/South divide point:
