It could just be a play of the light but ues it could be a bit bent, at 8 o'clock ish by the head of the angel on the harp. A C1 Briot is on my must-have-one-day list! Hopefully no-one else likes to acquire these (yeah, right!)

I prefer sixpences from the same series. Despite beeing small comparing with halfcrowns. they are still very impressive. I'll have to get one of those. Never thought of it due to the size... I love history in coins, and my favourite period would be Tudor - George II. My problem is that the hammered coins of this period I see for sale at affordable prices rarely have eye appeal for me, and eye appeal is my main criterion. There's probably no answer to this, save for winning the lottery and having an open cheque book, but I wondered if others felt the same frustration when searching for beautiful hammered coins from say 1480-1650? I have 2 keepers that are fairly recent acquisitions But my others are clipped , not so round and balanced, and I don't love them as much (I don't even want to post any pics)! For this reason I get more from enjoyment from looking at my early milled, anyone else feel the same frustration? I realise this is a naive question, just after candid responses I expect I will end up in medieval at this rate anyway!

Cartwheel, you are the king of resurrecting ancient topics! And why not! If I had to vote (don't really like any of them that much!), it would be the £2 coin, good size and some of the commems are attractive

I agree, the key point must be whether the rusted dies are the reason for rejection, or corrosion/field damage to the coin (for whatever reason)

Rob, this is a KH16 that CGS attribute as a 'Pattern in bronzed copper', is this the same coin you are referring to?

The CGS site just says 'Field Damage', did they give you more detail PWA?

Going only by the mintage figures from the Royal Mint web site, the Rio handover is relatively scarce with a mintage of 845,000, while the Dickens is over 8 million. They haven't posted the figures for this year's coins as yet. The £2 coins with the lowest published mintages are the 4 2002 Commonwealth Games commemoratives, with the lowest being Ireland at 485,500 I think the 1989 Claim of Rights is rare but some some reason the RM have not posted the figures for the early decimal £2 coins

Hi DD, I know nothing about this issue, but in all likelihood the reverse (the shield side), being well worn and less than Fine condition, would attract a price of less than a quarter of it's catalogue vale in Fine. Unless this coin is significantly rare, my guess would be somewhere between £25-£50

Id buy it at 99p as I could sell it on at a profit (probably)
