  1. No that was in response to Rob's point on weight reduction
  2. We maybe don't use the Members Only section as much as we should
  3. Post Mint you think, I'm very surprised! Given the frequency of examples of this, logic suggests lines created at the mint by the machinery, or to reduce the weight of the blanks, I would have thought
  4. I have no doubt as to authenticity either, I don't think that has been raised! And yes the topic is just about the lines, as Rob points out they are prevelant on Briot coins
  5. So all those recent comments are yours Stu? OK! Definitely in the pre-strike camp myself, but still open to suggestions!
  6. Very wise! 3 different Coinery user names now! If it helps , the weight of my coin is exactly 6.0 g
  7. Confused as to who is saying what!
  8. From Tony Clayton's site:
  9. Any interest in any of these? Please PM me if so https://pwcoins.wordpress.com/for-sale/for-sale/
  10. This is a known error and can fetch a few hundred
  11. New acquisition, Somerset Bath Alfred The Great Halfpenny Conder token Edge: Payne & Turner Silversmiths Bath
  12. Neither? No, they do not look deep ... what else could they be? What Seuk suggests?
  13. Yes, they would scrape off silver until the correct weight was achieved, quite common on early milled
  14. OK so this is milled, but I'm still sticking it in the hammered section! I've always believed the lines on the obverse to be adjustment lines, but some have suggested that it's likely that they are in fact lines to deface the king's portrait made by an anti-royalist. What do people think?
  15. I'm about to post a question about one of mine in the Hammered section
  16. Don't forget the milled issues of Charles I too ...

Blimey that 'Bait and Switch' complaint is grim reading! Hope the guy got his money back, but surprised he went ahead with the deal in the first place!
  19. Just to ring the changes, an 1897 Diamond Jubilee Medal
  20. Can anyone suggest what may be going on with the E of GEOR in this one?
  21. Quite agree with you Mick, why have a 1-100 range when they only use 28 of them anyways?
  22. My DNW wins arrived today so they are pretty quick
  23. Well done Mick, you're firmly on the right track now Glad you got hold of a 1951 proof set
  24. See what you've done @PWA 1967
