  1. No, sadly not, but I will keep an eye out for it on the website! Who knows when things might change? Thanks for sharing it, though, I haven't seen better it's fair to say!
  2. You know me so well, Paulus! Totally brassic, but with a name like Stuart, and a middle name Bruce, there must be a little Scottish in there somewhere! I did wear a thistle and rose button hole for my wedding, and my best man wore a kilt! We drank whiskey from a curraich (think that's the spelling?), and broke unleavened bread over the wife's head! Thanks, Neil, a nice example, but suffering with that later period edge! It seems a common trait for 1601 sixpences too!No disrespects meant but, whilst it has a quality bust, the overall appearance is not pretty, which I know is asking a whole lot of a genuine rarity! I've got my eye on 2 shillings at the moment (one in the upcoming W&W)! I/we are very VERY much skint at the moment, but would happily put a £200 6-month retainer on it if the price was right, just until we get the boat sorted out! 1x 70ft Northwich Trader narrowboat for sale! Comes with a Kelvin J3 vintage engine!
  3. No, generally they go pretty cheaply, I think that's just eBay for you! I can't see it on the site? Edit: What WAS the asking price?
  4. To be honest with you I didn't pick up on the marks, I was really struggling with the grotty silver bit that was proximal to it! Definitely one for sunglasses but, hey, what a price, around 8 X the price of the regular dates! Makes you wonder what a pretty VF would fetch?
  5. Blimey, these 1599 Anchor Sixpences go well, I watched one go through last week! Of course they're rare, and you don't see them on eBay very often, but I just couldn't part with that much money for a coin that looks like either of these, EVEN with an I Brown provenance (I would like at least ONE of his 'decent' coins, though!). You never see them and then, like buses, 2 come along at once! 261290423157 181216283124
  6. Good result for CC? Many there?
  7. Have you not seen my impressive collection of Una & Lion £5s? They're here, clearly displayed: Nice cabinet, that! I would never be able to leave the house again, though, if I had that in the corner of the lounge!
  8. OK, should anyone else stumble into this thread through google, etc. here's a very interesting read... http://www.ukdfd.co.uk/pages/nuremberg-jetons.html
  9. Never too much for me! (Squiggly-eyed emoticon) Is that eBay item at £180 a Victorian reminiscence of the Tudor days? Not that I'm aware of. Here's a Baldwin's list you might appreciate (.pdf). Wow, I would buy ALL of those if I had the money, amazing! Any idea why so many were struck in the Netherlands?Edit; got this one answered now!
  10. Never too much for me! (Squiggly-eyed emoticon) Is that eBay item at £180 a Victorian reminiscence of the Tudor days?
  11. And you are already in those hallowed circles! Your books will stand until well into the next 200 years! Perfection in coin production did at least give the modern nimismatist longevity in their works! Edit: U
  12. Hi copper123, In my deepest Jetton ignorance, this was part of my question...is the eBay link a Victorian creation of another golden age?Part of what mesmerises me about the piece is the quality of the copper! If it's Victorian, I'm slightly undone, as much as I admire its quality!
  13. Thanks, David, much appreciated!
  14. I wondered the same thing for a few seconds! It is a little more unusual, but Peckris is 100% correct and, given the sheer volume of these tokens, I wouldn't say they are collected enough that a slightly rarer variant would be financially appreciated!Edit: seuk could be interested? If he doesn't see this, it could be worth Private Messaging him for his input...he would provide you with a definitive answer for sure!
  15. It's highly likely it's quite common, blueleaf, but, sad as it sounds, looking at new material (pieces) is just about what we live for on here!Great that you've brought it here...bigger pictures would also be great! There's a 'sticky' post in the beginners section that may help with posting better pictures! You may have a really rare variety, you'll never know until you share the 'full picture' with us?
  16. I can actually 'see' Catwoman and Albert Einstein in the original features - but Bowie? No way!!!! I saw Prince Albert, a known Bi-Sexual, and S&M...Dave may have a point?
  17. You're the man, Dave! Whilst I'll never be collecting in this field, or will ever check my change (even though I do occasionally look at my 20p's), I totally respect the methodology and dedication!Great stats...and just when Declan thought he was free!
  18. How many pies do you have your fingers in? Even my phone, which doesn't download the full resolution in my current inhabitance, can easily highlight a serious bit O tooling!
  19. Your coin falls between the dates 1180-1247 so, yes, very old...it's a short-cross penny! My apologies that I can't be more precise, there'll be others here who'll be able to see it more clearly and give it its full provenance!
  20. Nice one, Peter, will check it out!
  21. Brilliant, thank-you, badgerap, why a predominantly French/German pastime?
  22. Does Nurnberg mean ALL jettons? I'm getting the impression they're not an English creation, if judged on name alone?
  23. OK, so here's 331008165847 why I ask, I think this looks amazing! Would this have been produced during the Elizabethan period, or is it just musing over the good times at a later date?
  24. Is there a spink-style catalogue or web resource for jettons? Also, why would people of the period buy a sizeable copper token, just to use as, well, a token? Why not just use the money itself? Unless of course they used a 30mm copper Jetton as a shilling, perhaps?
  25. Maybe Baldwin's have consented to it? The thing I don't get, however, is how Fraser hopes to sell the coin at all! I mean you'd hardly be shelling out 10's of thousands without at least a little research? Even a basic search would find out the Baldwin version, given the descriptors are identical! Looking at the number of adverts and borrowed news items, I'd say he's more interested in site traffic for his dosh, rather than the physical hard sales of 'antiques'!
