  1. One way to get round it is to post the pictures on another site, image hoster, photo bucket etc. Then click on the picture of the tree in the post message/reply message writing section. Then copy and past the pictures url (www...) into the "enter the complete url" box. Finaly post your message and this should work.

    Hi

Welcome Steve, I too had to let my collection go when I was an early teenager, and then stopped collecting until the collecting bug caught me again a few years ago! This is a great forum to learn, share advice, ask questions and take part in. There are a few very knowledgeable members. I'm sure you will enjoy it here.
  3. Oh well the $36 coin sold for $157.50 LINK Don't know about you guys but when I see " User ID kept private " it usually signals alarm bells in my head.
  4. I'm not happy they are reuniting just amused. I wasn't a fan by a long shot. They must need the money or miss the attention.
  5. No they are full brockages. I have got the 25 Kurus brokage pair and the 50 Kurus brokage pair. Similar reverse 25 Kurus coin dated 2000 PSGS MS64 can be seen in Mike Byers's sold coins museum: byersnc.com/museum I don't know how much his sold for though?
  6. Seriously the Royal mint are starting to churn out more and more modern comemerative "collectable" junk by the bucket load lately. In Junes issue of Coin News they even advertised a "striking carousel money box in hand-crafted silver pewter and gold, to a Diamond wedding celebration bell in silver plate and rose gold". They are starting to loose the art factor and replacing it with the tat factor.
  7. Superb coins scottishmoney. I am going to have to buy myself a nice US gold coin one of these days. Also hot on my list are Italy and France. That is beautiful. Really nice colour, is it like that in the flesh?
  8. Wow never heard of that one Chris. Will have to check my circulation £2 coins now.
  9. Your theory has a lot of truth in it scottishmoney: eBay link You can but these for $36 on Antiquanova. Link
  10. Geordie found this site. link click here They make their own hammered replica coins. Scarily and worryingly accurate!
  11. Indeed I think your right Peter! I remember reading an article on him in the past. Anyway found a seller selling a few of his coins on ebay at the moment for anyone interested. Ebay link
  12. I have been playing about with my camera trying to get some better pictures of my coins. I thought I would share my world gold coin pictures with you. It is a side line in my collecting interest but steadily growing. Please feel free to post pictures of your gold coins it would be interesting to see others too!
  13. Hi I have been playing with my camera and updating my gold coin collection. I stubled on this one again. Can anyone help with who made it and when. I assume it is a fantasy piece. It is the same size and weight of a half Sovereign and minted in gold (but probably not 22k as the colour is a bit mellow). Thanks in advance. Hus
  14. The reason Ashford was such an great forger was because he actually used ancient silver etc. to mint his coins. He used worn coins as planchets for his new coins, and he made his own dies as opposed to casting the coins.
  15. Do you work for Krause? I'm jealous I would love to work in a coin related job.
  16. Have you weighed it and do you know what a Canadian 5c weighs?
  17. What would be your theory on it Geoff (I won't be insulted if you think its fake. In my book Numismatics is all about learning and listening as well as sharing opinions). Could it be a die trial before they used the type d reverse. A type of transitional piece perhaps?
  18. Nice one Gary. It appears to be struck on a wrong planchet. This could also contribute to some loss in detail as the planchet is thinner.
  19. Very nice coin! it would be great to find out where it was minted.
  20. Thanks guys. The letters and aren't raised but incuse. I had a look a my father-in-law's Krause and there are similar reverses minus the Pisagua. It is also much the same size as a Chile 8 reales of the same date. I am not dismising fiscal document seal, or post mark theories. If anyone comes across any more information if they could post it I would be truely grateful. Rgears, Hus
  21. Thanks for taking time out to reaserch your copy Davis for Geoff. From what you point out I would have to go with reverse D. Would you concur?
  22. I would love to own a classic car. My top choice would be an AC Cobra even if it was a replica. Well here's pictures of an Shelby AC Cobra Replica for anyone that hasn't seen them. If I was ever to call a car Sexy this would be it.
  23. Expensive and if genuine no doubt rare coin, but not much eye apeal. If I had that much money to spend on a coin personaly it wouldn't be that.
  24. For anyone that is interested in classic cars. I was at a classic car show yesterday at Thirlstane castle. This is the home of the Maitland family, it is in the Royal Burgh of Lauder near where I live. It is the famous home of John Maitland first duke of Lauderdale, who was one of the five "Cabal". One of the five leading ministers of King Charles II during the early 1670's. He apparently ruled Scotland with a iron hand. Link to slideshow
