  1. Welcome aboard Dean. Its a great forum I'm sure you'll enjoy it here.
  2. Great website Ch2toWm4. I have already got it added to my favorites. I didn't relise it was your website.
  3. Superb brockage Ken. Very nice brockage Ch2toWm4. You have a couple of great gothic florin errors there. It's funny how I hadn't come across a gothic florin error before, and now there are new examples surfacing. Good stuff thanks for sharing guys.
  4. Personally I think the queen does a good job. She is a great ambassador for the country. The royals attract tourism, have no real powers (like they used to), and let's face it its not an easy job being in the limelight all the time. Celebrities usually choose to, but as a royal you are born into it and have no choice.
  5. A Gothic Florin reverse full brockage error. I have seen a few Vicky brockage pennys and halfpennies, but never a florin brockage before. My British error collection is growing nicely.
  6. I found the path Chris: http://www.predecimal.com/collectors/archive http://www.predecimal.com/collectors/archi...fguinea1762.jpg
  7. Wow a frosted proof 1687 JAMES II CROWN . I feel sorry for the winner. I know it's been said a hundred times before but always buy and read books before buying coins for "investment". I also don't like the fact that the seller says "I WILL BE ADDING SEVERAL MORE OLD COINS AND NOTES FROM AUSTRALIA AND WORLDWIDE." He is implying hat this coin is OLD!!!
  8. Very nice looking site Chris. Congrats. One thing I can't seem to find is pictures of coins (archived ones) sold. I was using this quite extensively to use your pictures on the website I am building.
  9. Wow B&CC. The extent of your collection never ceases to amaze me.
  10. Cool I like hedgehogs. Come to think of it I like most animals. I hope he makes a good recovery Chris.
  11. I measured the flan using the digital calipers (very well made, great bit of kit, highly recommended, thanks Chris). It measures 1.85mm. So I guess that makes it a F.325 as predicted by Michael and John. Cheers, Hus
  12. What was the first and more honest grading company? They didn't go the whole way and say it was AT so sat on the fence, but at least raised questions.
  13. What amazes me is how can the grading company not make reference to the fact that this is artificial toning.
  14. I don't know where to begin on this one auction
  15. Hi Peter, It is very similar to the double struck error farthing I purchased from Rob.
  16. Verry nice token SM. You have got to love the spelling of times old. Raven is spelt RAEN and tavern TAVERNE.
  17. Posted on another member on another forum. Thought I'd share it here:
  18. I recived an email from Michael: "I have had a look at the posts on the website, and I think John (Chingford) has hit the mark. Your coin is F.325. This has my reverse K*, and the constant and most obvious feature distinguishing it from reverse M is the wide date. On reverse M it is much narrower. There are other features, as you know, but, as with the comparable penny reverses, this is the most obvious and easiest way to tell. As for the weight, your coin equates to 91.28 grains, which is fractionally above the range given by Peck for the Bun Head halfpennies (max. 90.8g). Although flans will vary, and yours may be possibly a fraction thicker than most, I think it is the COLLAR which you have measured, rather than the flan (planchet). To measure the latter, you would need calipers. I recollect that I had specimens of F.325 with a wide COLLAR, overlapping the surfaces, and I think your coin is one of these." I am still happy with a "F.325 a wide COLLAR" variety outcome. Next step measure the flan using digital callipers purchased from Chris.

  20. This isn't one I own, but I am asking on someone else's behalf. Is this a 1727 coronation medal of Caroline struck in gold? and is it genuine?
  21. Great link to UK Detector Finds Database with pictures and description
  22. Thanks guys, I have emailed Michael Freeman hopefully he can shed some more light on it.
  23. Thanks John, It definetly seems under weight, but it is thicker than standard?
