Hussulo replied to Irishraider's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
"I know this is not the sales part of this and so am not selling anything but would add the following PS - Hussolo PM in the next week or so as I may have a GEF (AU) 1905 shilling possibly up for trade." Will do, thanks! Neat 6d holder Geordie! -

Hussulo replied to Irishraider's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Hi Hussulo, MichaelGoulby appears to have found another obverse type for the 1903 shilling which he rates a very scarse. The reason I say appears to have found is that I have this one already and searching ebay have found others so I'm wondering if there are really 3 types. Have you come across this. Hi Gary, In actual fact I haven't got any 1903's. What is the difference in the obverse for this said variety? The only Edward VII Shillings I have got at the moment are, 1902, 1907 and 1902 proof. It is a side line collecting interest at the moment, which i hope to add to. I know some dates will be tough to find in higher grades. -

Proof-like Crown 1897
Hussulo replied to Sergy's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
According to my books there is no known proof Crown for 1897. It only comes in business strike with LX or LXI on the edge. Maybe someone with more expertise on proofs like Rob can help? -

Wow I'd like to see it! I to have read about it but haven't seen pictures of one before. As for that guy what a joke. I know a lot of beginners automatically assume that their coin is the most expensive variety in the book but what an absolute ars*. Did make me laugh though! -

I dont know much about nova scotia coins/medals but its definitely worth at least 50p. Half the fun is finding more out about coins and tokens you come across. An item like that has a lot of history. -

'to specialise or not'
Hussulo replied to basecamp's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Well everyone follows their own path. I too collected and bought lots of coins at first but lately I have been focusing on quality more than quantity. I might save up for a month or two and then spend my budget on one coin as apposed to buying hundreds of coins. I started collecting as a hobby but now as well as it being a hobby I look at it as an investment also. Therefore I try and buy coins (unless rare) with minimal wear. I do not buy coins I don't like the look of. I only buy coins that interest me whether it be historically or numismaticaly. I wont be selling my collection off anytime soon but I would like to think that when I come to retire (40+ years time) or hand them down to the kids that they might be of some value. My father in law in the other hand has thousands if not tens of thousands of coins. He buys bulk boxes of world coins whenever and wherever he can. He then enjoys searching through his Krause catalogues in the hope that he might find a rare date or low mintage and sometimes he does! Again each to their own and as long as your having fun thats the main thing. Also if you find any coins of any value keep them separate. Consider investing in 2x2 card coin holders. Hope you enjoy your hobby and never be afraid to ask. There is no such thing as a stupid question, only stupid answers. You have joined a great forum with many a knowledgeable collector who can assist you along the way. Best of luck! -
'to specialise or not'
Hussulo replied to basecamp's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I also agre with the rest of the guys, just enjoy yourself. I personaly find it hard to specialise. I started off with JUST British coins, then British coins and British error coins. Then a few world errors sneaked in. Now I collect all of the above and also world gold coins. I am also tempted to start collecting Scottish coins! -
