It makes me a little nervous when someone in business, tells me "In a move to cut costs for sellers". Generally that phrase is just propaganda, they are doing it for reasons other than for the seller! ...You mean there is nothing in it for eBay! LOL. I got the same release from eBay in a email....

Diemakers are known to drill a hole at the end of a crack in a die, to stop the crack (sometimes only temporarily) to allow the continued use of a die. This is mostly done on forging dies, but maybe on finish quality dies also. (?)

Here is one, that is kind of hard to find, a 1922 Penny, with "Dot" on center trident.

Using Dave's grading book as a guide. I would say AVF on the Obverse, and VF on the Reverse. This is not reducing the grading for any porosity, etc. It is a petty nice coin overall. A dealer would mark the coin as VF overall, and would reduce the pricing for any porosity, etc. IMO...

Declan, The triple "F" 1860 penny is a Gouby BP1860Jd. It has the really nice triple "F", plus a double "T", and a double "1" in the date. I have one slabbed AU55BN by NGC. Gouby shows 10+ known, with the Best at AU90.

Jerry. My wife has had both a illiostomy (similar to a colonoscopy), and a Urostomy. While it does require some lifestyle changes, it does in fact work pretty well. I wish you Father the Best of Luck, and also to you, and your family, in your support responsibility.

I had the same issue Zooey. I sent in a F192A Penny (1922/27) with full documentation, and it came back a F192 Penny...and they lost my documentation!They graded it ok on grade (VF I think), but they took a $4,000 coin and turned it into a $50 coin!

Yes B&C you are right. Remember the time you bought a UNC Mule, only to determine it was not a mule, and returned it? After that, the grading company tried to explain it away as a "partial" mule.......LOL.

My coin sale was a private sale, without the frenzy usually associated with a auction. I would assume the price at auction would be higher. However I did save the auction fee.

Mike & Pete, I can't tell you the exact amount, but it was well over $10,000 US$. I caused a lot of excitement on the Forum when I put a picture of it on the Thread. I was getting e-mails and calls from most of the well known penny guys in the UK. I purchased it from a High End Collector, in Florida, who had owned it for many years. I delivered it, in person, at Notting Hill, in London, since I was vacationing, at the time, in Great Britain. There are 5 or 6 of these Narrow Date known (actually) at this time, with some collectors having multiples. This is a good test for Zooy, as the listed estimates for really rare coins, are somewhat low, in most cases, compared to actual sale prices. I wish I still had it!

Good point Bernie. I use my QX5 with a older version of windows on a laptop. I haven't tried it on my larger system, though I think there are upgraded drivers available. I know the QX7 does have the 8/10 compatability, I just haven't seen a need to up grade.

I bought the andonstar first, and wasn't happy with them.

Digital Blue QX5 is the best microscope I have ever found. I have two differant models of the Andonstar, and the QX5 is by far better than either one! They started selling the QX5 in Toys'r"Us, and later, it was sold to a new company that markets it now. Originally it costs $49.95, but now on eBay they sell up to about $70.00 (more or less). There is also a newer QX7 available, but I haven't tried it.
