Trouble is, I don't know what I want from a site?I have Ancestry.com and I like it, and it is easy to use, and has a extremely large database. Myheritage is also easy to use, and is free, which I like also. Ancestry is based in the USA, while MyHeritge is UK based, so both have a advantage for the user.

It does look that way LOL, but I think it is just the reflection of the rock to the right of the lighthouse, that makes the sea look like it is going uphill from left to right!

The dollar is Very Fine (minus the scratches). If the scratches are on the plastic container, and not the coin...then VF! The scratches will downgrade the dollar to Bullion Value, which is about $15-16.00. The reverse of the coin is about average for a VF coin!

The camera lightened the coin up somewhat. The coin is really slightly darker than the pciture. Thanks to all for the comments.

Recently, as a part of another purchase, I came into the possestion of a couple of Books...they are: "English Hammered Coinage" by J.J. North Hard Bound, with Illustrations and Rarity Volume 2, Edward I to Charles II (1272-1662) Spink & Son 1960, Good used condition. and "The Standard Catalogue of British Orders, Decorations & Medals" by E. C. Joslin, with Illustrations, and Values. Spink & Sons, 1969, Soft Bound, Good used Condition, 114 pages. I know they are both older, but may have some value to a collector. Send me a PM, with what they are worth to you, plus postage, who knows you may just buy some books!

Interesting observation about the Ladies Neil. Not only do more Ladies seem to be interested in the Hobby...but at large coin shows here in the U.S. I've noticed a increase in Lady Dealers!

I am certainly not an Obama fan, but to be truthful the"saving" of the Turkeys by a U.S. President has been done annually ever since I can remember, and that goes back to FDR! Obama is just continuing the tradition. Ha,Ha! I have even heard some Americans refer to Obama as a turkey! LOL! They live in Montana, and practice rifle drill every morning at dawn before crawling back into their nucular bunkers, say the 7 Commandments to JEEzussss, before continuing to plot the overthrow of Big Government, right? (No stereotypes please, we're British ) Could be Peck, but to be honest, Montana is one of the few states I have never visited, so I can't be sure! LOL!

I've never dealt with Spink, but I have Baldwins. They are fine to buy from, but to sell, or auction is another matter. I offered them a whole box (about 85 coins) for auction (one of the coins in the $15,000 range, and excessivly rare), and they showed little interest. They said they deal in only the rarer, high value coins! Business must be good! LOL!

It is a nice coin, but does have a light "x" scratch across the lower throat on the obverse!

I'll definitely share all photos when I've received confirmation from Noble. In the meantime, I did put in a 'lowball' proxy-bid for this 1837 penny, which I appear to have won. If so, it'll be a nice surprise! It's not perfect, but certainly at the comfortable end of EF: 1837.jpg Accumulator...that is a beautiful Penny. Good find!

I don't see how this is a jab at anyone specifically -- but I do see how a paranoid person could convince himself thereof. Brandon...can't you see that you are becoming a distraction to an otherwise great British Numismatic Forum. As the new guy on the block, please try to lower the intensity level somewhat. I am sure you have somthing to contribute. As for contributors saying something about the "American" or the "Yanks", leave it alone. America can take care of itself without our help, at least as far a numismatics is concerned. BTW...welcome aboard!

Thi ´s is very true, our difference is that we're not being told by large multinational companies that slabbing is the only way to achieve coin greatness. America is driven by Marketing companies who tell you that you must blah blah blah or else and the poor souls buy into it so much so that they swap/sell a coin for a Point more on a slab, what is 1 Point exacvtly, could you Point it out on the two same coins side by side? In the UK, we buy coins becaise of the history of them, who has owned them before us etc, this is my Points and absolutely NOTHING to do with American bashing as according to the poster. There are several American collectors on here who have'nt bought into the TPG mentality, those are true collectors in my opinion, those are the People who want to collect for the history and not for the Dollar, so forgive me Vicky and Bob if it has come across like that, and my aploogies to the rest of the Forum.
