  1. I wish I had known you were there on Friday...so was I! Small world!
  2. His name is Allen Stockton, and he lives in Monticello, KY...near the Eastern Mountains of KY. He advertises in the ANA Magazine. He does very good work, but you would not want to send a coin to him in better than VF condition, as the repair and resurfacing does take its toll. Another thing, it takes 6 months to a year to get your coin back. The cost is reasonable however.
  3. LOL!...Make that Feb 11th......not military time.
  4. I thought some of you Ancient guys might be interested in this. This is a Dealer in New York State, that does his own auctions.... Hi Auction 90 will close 2/11 -- 458 lots, mostly UNRESERVED, ancient & early coins, mostly good stuff; including some group lots, literature, and fixed price items. Catalog, with pictures, at: http://www.fsrcoin.com/a.html Early bidding always appreciated. Lately when examining realizations in other auctions, to keep up my card file, it was especially time consuming because so many high prices were noteworthy. I've also been looking at eBay and it's almost impossible to buy anything decent at a reasonable price. Frankly this makes an auction like mine an exceptional buying opportunity -- I only wish I could bid in it myself!! I will be at the NY coin show Thursday and Friday. Best regards Frank S. Robinson
  5. Red, George is one of Charles' names, and I also heard the same thing...that he wants to Crowned as George. There are rumors that he may "pass" in favor of his son...what do you think? Pass what? Wind? That is not how it works. Charlie will just have to have a short reign, assuming he outlives his mum Pass?...That is how it worked for Edward VIII..........
  6. Good advise Peter...especially about the log fire and the beef stew! Our weather here in Indiana is supposed to moderate somewhat on Wednesday. The temperature is supposed to climb to 27 "above" zero! Right now it is 15 degrees below zero! Ha, Ha! The weather in the UK has been in the papers here also...good luck...it will get better!

  8. That sale is held at the New York International Coin Fair (NYICF), in New York City. I usually go to that one, but it is usually so cold there, I decided to go to the Florida Coin Expo instead this year. They are held at the same time. The Florida Expo is a lot bigger (1000 tables) than the NYICF, but the New York show is more directed to World Coins. I am going to like the 75 degree weather in Florida a lot better though! Ha,Ha! I went to the Florida Expo in Orlando last year - it's HUGE and I enjoyed the experience. But I was really disappointed that there were very few dealers with British coins. Chris, The reason you didn't find many World coin dealers in the Florida Expo, is that the New York International Coin Fair is being run at the same time, and that is where most of the British Coins are! Ha,Ha! If you haven't visited the NYICF, you should go sometime, most of the Noteable European Dealers are there. Watch out for the hotel pricing though $350-$400/ night!
  9. Bagerap, That is so true! Only emergency travel today until noon, then necessary travel only. per the Mayor of Indianapolis, and the Governor of Indiana! I had to put off my trip to Florida until Wednesday, until the weather moderates!
  10. TonigtJan 6 76°FObserved High11:45 amPartly Cloudy Weather in Orlando, Florida today! I hope it stays that way!

  12. The 50 degrees is the good bit. The rest is howling gales and sheets of rain. You wouldn't like it Bob, you really wouldn't. I heard you were having some issues also in the UK. Today here in Indiana there is 14" of snow on the ground, and 15 delow zero temperature at noon! The Mayor has shut down all traffic, except emergencys, because of the high winds, blowing snow, and wind chill factor of -50 degrees. We received about a year's snow in the last 24 hours. I am going to Florida tomorrow...75 degrees, and sunny! Ha,Ha!
  13. So far Indianapolis has received 12 inches of global warming (snow), and it is still coming down in droves! I've cleaned my, and my neighbors driveways off twice so far (6" of snow each time) today (100' each)! Tonight is is going to be 16 below zero here, and the "High" tomorrow ia set for 12 below zero! I'll be glad when this global warming is over! Ha,Ha. BTW... the football game in Green Bay today is going to be played in -10 degree temperatures.....outside! I just checked the weather in London...it is 50 degrees...I should have stayed in the UK longer!
  14. Nice coin VS! The coloring of the coin really looks original to the early Bronze Pennies. Nice strike also!
  15. I wonder what the 1999 Krause lists a 1903 halfcrown at? I got one in VF from a New York dealer for £26 Peck, My 2009 Krause (36th edition) lists the 1903 HC at $275 (167 pounds) in VF. While this is a 10 year newer reference (than the 1999), it still looks like you stole it, at 26 pounds! LOL! I have a 1903 in GF that I paid $277 for....
  16. I'm thinking the same as you, Garrett! I'm definitely thinking cleaned, though! The tone of all his bronze coins is unnatural and too consistent, which suggests dipping. I may be wrong though. I'll bet you're not. I think he adjusts the color balance on his camera also...his coins all have the same tone!
  17. Happy New Year from the Colonies!.....
  18. Beautiful coin Sword. It doesn't look dipped to me. Nice clear fields!
  19. That is a nice one Steve. Did you buy it as a 93/2 or as a regular 1893? Better coins like your example show a lot more detail in the overdate. Good find!
  20. Whenever anyone advises Michael they have a additional copy of a item he has listed, he updates the count on the Master Copy Book that he keeps. The number he shows in his book is only the ones he has verified at the time of printing. When I visited him in September, I showed him a couple of coins that he updated in his book, at that time.
  21. There is a definate (although faint) change in the upper arc of the 3, but the pic does not show it very well. This overdate is one that you really "want" to see, rather than it being one that stands out with the naked eye.
  22. Here is a closeup of the 93 over 92.
  23. I noticed that error also! The coin does have a 2nd "1" impression slightly to the left of the 2nd one (1) in the date!
  24. Chris, Not sure what Victorian pic's you want, but I can supply the following coin pic's, or close up's of the varieties, if you need any of them. 1860 over 591860 N over Z1864 Crosslet 41875 Narrow and Wide dates1876H Narrow and wide date1877 Narrow and Wide dates1880, 8 over 81911, Gouby X1922 Dot on trident1922, Reverse of 271946, One' (Dot)Let me know if you want any of them.Regards,Bob C.
  25. I just looked thru 10 1904 Pennies, and didn't find any with the 4 over the tooth! I would assume it is the most difficult to find. Yes Bob, they're unbelievably difficult to find and worth $15,995! Or the narrow date 1877 on your website, of course WOW!!!!!!! I have got to start paying more attention. It looks like David is going to have a additional 1904 for his book's next printing! Does anyone you know actually have one of these?
