  1. Let's be honest Here. If this coin was in the ebay thread we'd be all having a pop at the sellers grading, so its gone through CGS and is acceptable?
  2. The HUGE Crux for me i's that OBV scratch, its not a bagmark it's a whacking great big SCRATCH And coins from CGS get downgraded for these type of things, so, sorry but OBV is not UNC for me
  3. George V coinage as a whole was very problematic but that coin should never get a CGS80 even before we talk about the scratch On The neck. Thats crazy Grading especially since we moan sometimes at how low they grade some real chocie coins.
  4. Nice scratch across the neck there. UNC? Not for me
  5. So i thought i'd put this in here as it's unrecorded Grade is nothing special but the REV legend error is, A's for V's in the legend
  6. A fully searchable database from 1330-1550 of 64,000 names known to have migrated to the UK, might be useful to those researching family trees http://www.englandsimmigrants.com
  7. We had this same discussion on Here around 18 months ago, luckily i kept the Pics of a couple
  8. I think Spink has this one about right but the above coin was a Londoncoin sale so i don't understand why they rate their slab so highly. Just an opinion
  9. Penny 1841 REG No Colon Peck 1484 UNC or near so with some contact marks More coins like this £120
  10. Yup thats a little extreme
  11. Maybe Mark (sound) can copy it when it arrives to him
  12. Nope, not illegal in the UK....it is in France...if you bounce a cheque in France they automatically block your bank account (yes, they do) and its treated as a criminal offense..... But surely if the cheque book is stolen Then its illegal, so the question is, is it a stolen cheque book as from what Mark has said there has Now been a second attempt at buying gold coins. Maybe a phonecall To the issuing bank to clear it up? Could it be the same investcoins2003 trying again?
  13. I'm sure if its a stolen cheque book then it would be illegal surely, its fraud and theft
  14. It does looked cracked in the 1st quarter on the REV
  15. I assume the mobile number they left you Chris was made up?

  22. Can you throw up a link Peter to a 1933 wreath?
  23. ok, i will also reserve judgement on this now, but from you initial "dubious origins" post amd price paid my initial reaction was China or Hong Kong. The patchy toning is also something that has been seen recently in Chinese originated coins, most notably a Victoria florin quite recently. Sometimes a bargain can be found but i'd be surprised if this is actually one of them. Better pictures or a scan of the coin and uploaded into photobucket and the IMG url pasted into a post can hopefully help with the surface of the coin.
