  1. That's the second in the past week to come on the forum with a similar state of a 20p. Royal mint at its best, lack of quality control, i suspect there will be quite a few of these bouncing about very shortly
  2. To be honest, the bullion sovereign just doesn't interest me, it's a yearly design that hasn't changed, that's why i mentioned the 1/4ozs from the various mints, different designs to keep the interest piqued, the beasts series has 12 in the series, 2 designs a year, so enough to keep the wandering eye from straying, collect the whole series and perhaps a premium on the outlay (12 x 1/4oz is 2.5oz of Gold) in a 2 yearly payment over 6 years. Add a few extras such as the Aussie Lunar and a China panda here and there (all at 999 fine) and it soon adds up eventually.
  3. Australian Lunar series bullion mintage figures http://www.perthmint.com.au/investment-bullion-bars-and-coins-mintages.aspx
  4. I'm not so sure gold will fall that much to be honest, once Donald.J gets into power all hell is going to break loose. I think i could probably help you find a few bits @Stuntman at good prices, especially the QB 1/4oz. The other thing i'd mention is try and diversify, ok a Sovereign is world known, but it's also .916 gold, to take advantage of the tax free when selling on the coin must be .995 - .999 fine. The China pandas and Australian Lunars are a good alternative and are 999.9 fine gold, the queens beast bullion is also 999.9 fine, 1/4oz are a manageable price. As a starter, here are bullion mintages for the Lunar series. (http://www.perthmint.com.au/investment-bullion-bars-and-coins-mintages.aspx) Not quite into the British Lunar series, somehow it has to much of a modern feel for me, i'll post a picture of an Aussie one and a British one and you can compare
  5. Gold bullion, well, i recently picked up the 1/4oz gold Griffin at a fairly decent price, i bought 2, one for me and one for a friend of mine. If you are interested in something specific i'll see what i can find around here and can compare with you. The silver is Weight 62.42g Dimensions 38.61mm
  6. Well, just learnt something new today. Thats the first time i've ever seen WW on the left next to the N in HONI and also next to the N in PENSE, i can honestly say i've never seen that before until i uploaded those 2 pictures
  7. This error has also made an appearance on the 1817 half crown, but in the other direction, S over I in PENSE
  8. It certainly looks like it, but also seems to have a middle leg like an E in the middle of the I. Definitely over an S though
  9. If they minted the proof as they are doing with the bullion then the coin wouldn't be so special and their point was that it was a 200th anniversary coin, got my Griffin this week and i'm trying to get the complete series in silver bullion, the gold proof 1/4oz along with the gold bullion and 1oz proof in silver
  10. Outside on the balcony new years day. minus 4 out there

    hi!

Even if your wants change daily you can always mention it ALL in the same thread

    hi!

Hi, you could add all your wants into one thread instead of creating individual ones
  13. Same 2 files, cropped a little more with blank backgrounds added
  14. I'm not sure it's about how others do it, it's how YOU do it, i'm always advocating natural sunlight, so here is 2 different pictures taken today within a minute of each other, i'll post a finished result of those 2 pictures just shortly It's all in how you direct the camera and use the light/sunlight, these were taken with my ipad
  15. Check here www.royalmint.com/discover/uk-coins/counterfeit-one-pound-coins but just from the look of it i'd say no, but could be wrong
  16. Just had a little play around with the picture
  17. Yes, just looked again and the JC has a straight serif instead of a curved one making it look like an upside down T, but there's definitely some sort of writing under the Queen' chin
  18. The designer initals under the Queens head should read JC, yours seems to be upside down also there seems to some sort of wording just in front of the queens head, just down from her chin.
  19. Am sure someone on here bought it recently
  20. It does surprise me also as the younger head is more attractive than the old head/widow head etc
  21. More varieties
  22. The last 5 surely has to be over a 7?
  23. Incase anyone is looking for a decent 1903 https://www.sovr.co.uk/coins/great-britain/edward-vii-1903-penny-ag00754.html
