Agreed on both counts John, the medal was hideous, the buyers name was chaplin something from Madrid. There are 2 other 1997s in the bay, 1 at £260 BIN and the other £235 BIN both also without certificates etc, so i guess mine was The cheaper Option. I thought it would finish ar around The £150 mark but the buyer bidded a few hours bedore the end and obviously wanted it as the underbidder was winning up until sunday and tried a few more bids at the end. They only did these in Gold/Silver and Bronze. 200 Gold, 1500 Silver and 2000 Bronze, then the dies were apparently destroyed under supervision according to the little booklet that came with it Proof, if ever it were needed, that there is a God! £92 it finished ar, so i'm kinda happy with that

With a picture of that quality and showing only about 2/3 of one side, he isn't giving anybody much of a chance to decide! If it IS genuine, he's done himself a great disservice with the image and listing! I've got a number of fake images now, even bought a couple for a closer look, so it would have been interesting to compare, if his images were better! It is kind fo of curious as he states in his auction "Money from the English Civil War (1642-1649). This 'siege money'or'money of necessity' was used to pay garrisons in some of the Royalist townsbesieged during the Civil War. These interesting anomalies are from themuseum's Early Modern coin collection" but also states Ref No: INV. 15757/ BOLMG: 1901.19 Finney collection I would'nt bid on the strength of the picture, far to small, but sometimes that can go for the bidder

I knew what he paid for it as he bought it from a customer of mine, who had bought it from me prior to the hike in bullion prices. Needless to say the auction end price showed him a loss after fees so it went back on as a buy it now. Private listings...........shilling sales! The auctioned coin was Private, but for a 1927 Florin it's obvious why, he was wanting 195 quid for it, but when you take into account, fees, relisting fees etc then it must all mount up, hence the reasom i never really understood our favourite ebay shiller

Just on the Point of photography. I usually take mine outside Rob in good daylight, then check them out on the laptop, if any are out of focus i simply do them again until i have the picture i want. Its getting the camera just right thats the hard part, but me And my camera have become one when doing photos and i Generally now just do 1 of each side and we're done. The tricky part comes when there's some underlying lustre or prooflike fields, then its 5 or 6 takes at it. I like my camera but thinking of investing in something more complicated, its just the expense if i don't like it that holds me back. Tom i do like 1 or 2 coins in there, if i have some spare slush next month and if they are still avaliable i'll come knocking.

From a small Job lot.... Sculpted by a Norwegian apparently with 2000 only made in bronze, so many in Silver and same for Gold with the dies being destroyed after they'd done. This was bought in 1978 and has the receipt from Spinks from the purchaser
