  1. I think the BUZZ Word on that crown may not apply, but your reply Hit a note with me Mike. You're obviously a CGS slab buyer, perhaps of crowns even, its interesting to Note that this FINEST GRADED CGS coin does not interest you. It can't be possible that you have better because CGS tells us that its the best, so why does'nt it interest you?
  2. It will be interesting too see if the higher grade one actually sells consodering the other is only 3 lots further on at a consoderably lesser estimate.
  3. Clearly someone does'nt know a thing about coins. Thats 4000 quid with commission. They'd have to sell each one at 32 pounds clear to just break even Or there was something tasty in there Was there? I did'nt see the lot in question

  5. and the 1700 Crown. Both were graded as GVF
  6. The 1695 Crown OBV
  7. I wonder if it a sign of things to come. Those 2 Crowns were'nt worth that much and certainly looked dipped as they had the Stone like appearance from sitting in silver dip for too long.
  8. Watching this and a 1695 Crown quadrupled estimate and sold for 1200 GBP, looked cleaned lot 883 Lot 884 a 1700 Crown, estimate 200-300 sold for 1400 GBP GVF, but again looked cleaned to me. Lot 887 1935 Raised edge proof, 480 hammer, looked to be quite a few hairlines on this lot 872 1927 Proof set 520 hanmer and 871 1911 proof set 640 hammer The first 2 my jaw dropped watching them
  9. currently at 103 GBP http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111276833248?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_sacat%3D0%26_from%3DR40%26_nkw%3D111276833248%26_rdc%3D1
  10. Browsing through the forthcoming Londons catalogue i came across 2 lots. Lots 1386 a 1902 crown graded as CGS 82 and the finest they have graded apparently from 26 coins thus far and top estimate is £600 Lot 1389, same coin with just 4 points difference at CGS 78 with a top estimate of £250. My question is, do we think a 4 point difference is worth £350? (null)
  11. Dave,I agree that England doesn't want to Scotland to go, but I'm not at all sure that view is based on economics, more a genuine affection for Scotland. You say that you pay more taxes but that isn't accepted by the IFS which in 2012 concluded that Scotland receives about £200 more per head of population than the people in England do. To quote from their report, which I would trust far more than anything a politician says: 'Whilst uncertainty over how to allocate spending in some areas like defence might change the magnitude of the difference, it is not big enough to affect the broad conclusion that spending per head is substantially higher in Scotland.' If you then add in the SNPs uncosted social spending promises, plus the costs of achieving independence and I'm not convinced of the financial argument. I think you're listening to Tory Waffle Dave. 12. Troubles is David, steathclyde is'nt a country, its a region within Scotland which in turn is a country
  13. I believe the whole bailout started at Northern Rock (an English Bank who incurred Bad debts from the USA i believe, oh those colonies) Of course RBS were in the firing line. But it was far from THE only bank to be bailed out
  14. Dave, i have to say, its England who don't want Scotland to leave, not the other way around and there is obvious reasons to that. We pay more in tax to Westminster than we receive back pro head of population yet we can afford to have free Health prescriptions and University fees (for those living and being Scottish) Weatminster and all those who reside there are just a bunch of leeches and parasites sucking the life out of the people they Govern dipping their hands in the sweetie jar. Just a few days back i was reading that a Tory Party donor received a Billion pound NHS contract, strange that eh. As i said, just a load of parasites who are in it to make themselves richer and the poorer even moreso
  15. Lol at finances Gary, English Shops won't take Scottish banknotes as it is anyway, so we're already halfway there Although saying all that, it will open a whole new collecting area again for Scottish mints
  16. It appears to be just the Gold and banknotes at the mo

  18. Becaise its up tot h Scots to decided David. That wouöd be like asking the Welsh to also vote Or the Irish. We're not splitting the Union, we're taking back what was once ours anyway and something which Westminster has tried to keep for over 300 years. Scotland is'nt Englands toy to Play with like they did with the poll tax where it was started in Scotland 1 year before The Rest of the UK. Scotland has been westminsters Guinea pigs for Long enough. What i find interesting is WHY Westminster are resorting to smearing the Scottish "yes" campaign. The sooner we rid ourselves of the bottom feeders that reside at Westminster the better. Ian Duncan Smith, don't even get me started on him. Stephen, we'd welsome England Voting but we'd be too afraid you'd vote to stay in a union.

  20. What like Heritage pushing the prices still higher. Heritage doesn't push prices higher. Bidders push prices higher. Up to you to decide how high you want to go. Sorry, you should Quote slab buyers push prices Jaggy. Does'nt really help when Heritage start the ball Rolling at an ungoldy amount in the first place either I bid quite regularly at Heritage but I never overpay. If the bidding gets silly I pull out. Very few of the coins I am interested in are so rare that another example will not come up elsewhere sooner or later. Heritage are a business. They are there to get the best prices and, therefore, the best commissions for themselves. However, part of that business model is to provide an outstanding service, which they do. It is really up to us, the bidders, to determine what prices we are willing to pay. If some people are willing to pay silly prices that is their choice and their money. If Heritage sets a high initial price it is, no doubt, because they know that there are people that will pay it. I have to agree with you Jaggy. Heritage are really setting the standards for auction houses in the 21st century and, without realising it, a lot of collectors will benefit from the influx of interest (and, yes money) they are bringing to the hobby. As far as starting prices go, they can't really be wrong a just about every lot sells. Every lot sells as quite a large percentage is slabbed. Our best British counterpart i'd say was DNW but i don't see their prices rocketing into oblivion, most of their coins are left unslabbed and i've never had a problem with their pictures nor their Customer service, yet they don't achieve the prices Heritage does apart from one particular sale last year.perhaps this is because Heritage is more widely known? I'm just glad they're not the only coin auction house around
  21. I sometimes wonder if these grades and prices are just gimmicks Its a £50 coin at best. I also wonder if there is an idiot out there who will buy that. His musing of it being finest graded is obviously the hook for numpty slab buyers
  22. Made 1 Proxy bid today.
  23. A good picture goes a Long way when selling a coin through the internet

  25. What like Heritage pushing the prices still higher.Yes that as well but not entirely what i meant. What i meant was perhaps buying Outwith your means thinking you have enough time to pay and/or buying the coin at way over market prices. Perhaps this is why their prices are stratospheric and the reason the market in America for British coins is hyperinflated
