  1. Whoever did it also used two different reverses
  2. I think it's nearer a dozen
  3. Not often you see a £60,000 coin on ebay, cast copy?
  4. Slab it then triple the price, he'll be gagging for it then.
  5. Snap I would of had the 1915TT for that price. It goes to show maybe rare/expensive varieties should go into proper auctions. It was in London coins and didn't sell
  6. Middling, some of the Maundy went well, assuming the American chap pays up. The 1908 penny went for £77, would have liked more, but for a pound hey. The 1915 Farthing only went for about £65, actually made a loss on that one, win some lose some.
  7. That look legit to me, the top half of the lamination is missing. What you see has been struck through the missing bit. My thoughts too, Gary! I have a 1967 penny that is splitting and the body of the coin looks identical to that inside the split.

  9. Secret dealers...........We KNOW your secrets Peter I've got a bath full of Baked beans and mushy peas to dive into later...Mrs Peter is on a leash. You're Roger Daltrey in disguise? WHO? My wife comes from the family Moon.I have a picture of one of the Moons who recently died, in his sixties. The picture was taken in his 20's, it's uncanny. You would say it was Keith. THE family Moon, or A family Moon ??? Not the famous nautical family Moon?
  10. I don't look on ebay for coins, it would push me over the edge. I think there should be more painted, plated, enameled, turned into ear rings coins. That'll make less of the unadulterated coins out there and the one's I've got more valuable. How about a bottomless wishing well anybody, I get a wish every time a coin is dropped down it.
  11. No, 4 weeks in the Philippines Enjoy No1 son is in Mozambique with the school at the same time so just me and the misses this time. It will be hot but it's the rainy season now so could go either way. A bit like the UK without the hot.
  12. Just let me know which ones you are looking at and sort it for you

My McAfee has been kicking up recently when going into the selling pages, suggesting that it's dodgy and do I really want to go there.
  14. No, 4 weeks in the Philippines
  15. I'll be taking a look too, Gary! I hope I don't win any, as I'll only be after bargains so, fingers crossed, someone else will win, and you'll get the money you're after! I don't think I'd ever consign a large number of coins to eBay auctions to generate cash, but good luck and fortune! It's just a load of spares that have accumulated over the last few months. I'm surprised that nobody has been on yet to point out my spelling gaffe. I know I should have submitted it first for spell checking but in the heat of the moment....
  16. Hi all, just put a load of 20th century British on ebay towards my holiday fund. Only 3 weeks to go woohoo. Something for everyone except you hammered boys. My ebay
  17. She's an excellent singer and the band is very tight
  18. Yes mine was also, about 5-6 years ago, he also made the floor stand at the same time.
  19. On that note, there are some listed on ebay that state they are made from 'furniture board'. Not sure if this is mdf or something else, but proper mahogany trays are tried and tested and safe. MDF is not recommended for coins of any value as we don't know the long term effects of the glues etc that are used in manufacture. I had my cabinet made by Peter Nichols, but they can also be picked up at auction, though that way you have less choice about the size of the various holes. But a bit cheaper. I guessed that from a picture you posted on another thread! There's something instantly recognisable about the wood he uses, then there's those red felt inserts... I have two of 'em. St Leonards on Sea, isn't he? Or something like that. Yes Peck 2 Norman rd, St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex, TN37 6NH www.coincabinets.com I think I remember him telling me that he does not make them personally anymore but his name is still on them. Yes he packed up the middle of last year. Never can resist the opportunity of showing my Peter Nichols
  20. I would be happy to suggest it! How do we explain (for example) that, if they are all naturally toned, none of us have one like that in our collections? Or do we? I have a few beautifully toned coins but not like that!! Me neither. Red tones, gold, yellow, grey. But none are blue. Apart from a GF 1745/6 halfcrown but that's a bluish hue on a pewter grey background and I'm sure is genuine toning. I have a 1911 proof set that are a uniform dark blue, too dark really, perhaps I'll dip them to get them back to a nice shiny silver colour. Mind you they came from the US.
  21. Watched the concert on and off too, and feeling the urge to say something I have felt for a long time ... great lyrics and music, but Sir Elton and Sir Paul can't actually sing very well at all!!!! There, off to the tower with me! I thought Sir Cliff was the worst, and what was Grace Jones on.
  22. Link not working for me, any chance of resending it.
  23. Sorry Rob, I used up all my energy and time responding to Colin's points about disability benefits. I've nothing left for the banking situation. I'll read it all tomorrow and see if I have a sensible response to make. I believe the system was going to break eventually with or without the Bankers. When it happened it just gave gov someone to kick for their own excesses.
  24. I feel very frustrated about it all, I've worked hard, well worked, all my life, and religiously paid into a pension. But the way everything is moving under my feet I just don't know if I've done the right thing or just wasted my time and money. As a family we are well and truly in the squeezed middle, too much money to get any help and not rich enough not to worry. A case in point our son is a year away from university and we are now doing the rounds of open days. Because of our family income we are right on the limit of receiving nothing and will have to pay in full for any place. I can see very soon that universities are becoming places for the very rich and the poor who go virtually free with the middle classes excluded or becoming massively in debt. In this country we are too happy to penalize the people who try and give it the people who haven't tried, we definitely promote the wastrel in this country. Anyway back to gold, I have heard somewhere recently that if the value of gold had kept up with inflation its value should be nearer $4000 per ounce.
  25. Yes, very strange to see the full rim! One of the farthing boys on here has snaffled it I reckon! What looks odd to me which may just be an optical illusion is that the lettering looks too close to the rim for there to be denticals down the left side.
