  1. That's a King compared to most Mike!
  2. Patchy TBH but I always check every time just in case.
  3. Checked Brunk also and nothing listed in there.
  4. CP is listed on page 162 as unattributed. CP large letters with serrifs 1797 1d source Seaby incuse on obverse
  5. I have and will check the noo
  6. As Chris said, typical of 1973 sets. I bin them when I get them in that state.
  7. There aren't any words that can help you David but if you need somebody to listen just give me a bell any time.
  8. Shin Gunto Katanas are my bag. Sold my collection recently and will look at starting again once I get my property purchase completed.
  9. I sold a perfect set on ebay a couple of months ago and the buyer complained that the card outer was rubbed on the edges!
  10. How has the seller got positive feedback on those fakes he has already sold at 30x the price he obviously paid for them? If buyers are paying that sort of hard earned for quite obvious fakes it makes you wonder what their collections consist of and at what cost....
  11. Aye, it's grim. One thought though chaps, if it fails to sell in great numbers it could well be the next decades Kew Gardens, just a thought!
  12. Laughable if it wasn't so immoral.....that and the tax evasion as well, oh, and signing on fees, merchandising, goals, assists, wins etc etc
  13. Poor Neymar is only reportedly to be on £500,000/week IF the PSG deal is ratified by La Liga. In a world where approx 3/5 of his countrymen live in tin shacks that is just fecking obscene!
  14. Some of the more recent stuff is making stupid money IMHO. The hype around the Kew 50p has sent the 2009 proof set prices through the roof (typically in excess of £200 in salerooms). The 2010 sets onwards are all fetching good money too. As a dealer I worry that the new collectors are focussed entirely on the tat that RM produce each year and real coin collectors are dropping off. Just my opinion based on observations.
  15. Fear not Richard, the estimates are only estimates (usually based on hammer paid) and I have instructed a little discretion if required I have had a look at the saleroom catalogue and there are odd coins scattered all over so my advice would be skip the section tags and work through the catalogue lot by lot as there are no gaps in the coins and they should run by sequential lot numbers. Good luck with your bids.
  16. Technically verdigris should not spread at all in a slab as they are supposed to be hermetically sealed.
  17. Do you really need to take everything so personally? I made sweeping comments and you assume they relate to you (they didn't). As I said, chill out, it's a hobby. Less stress makes for a longer life.
  18. Rob, like me, will get multiple queries a week from ebayers and other MOP's asking if coins are real and what they're worth. I assume (dangerous as that makes ass out of u and me) that Rob, like me, gets totally pissed off with it. We learnt the hard way and the expensive way. We made mistakes and then we taught ourselves with the help of others and at substantial personal cost by buying more books than coins. My own reference library runs into the Thousands of Pounds, Rob has an even larger library than me! Giving advice on here to fellow collectors is okay but giving advice for other people to profit from is a bit like asking your local plumber to fit your heating for free as you support the same team as him? One off life changing purchases is obviously a reference to the fact that there are very few purchases you will miss by not being clued up that will not come around again. You come across as both offended and slightly offensive, chill out, it's supposed to be a hobby and hobbies are supposed to be fun ;-)
  19. I jacked the website Dave as trade was slower than a Newcastle United central defender. I may revive it one day, maybe, perhaps......
  20. Apologies to those members who contacted requesting a list of unsold lots from the LCA June sale. I decided that if I had to re-write the list I may as well write a catalogue, so that's what I have done. All of the unsolds have been individually catalogued and photographed for sale by auction. As some of you know I work freelance for Northern salerooms and I have submitted the lots for sale at PFK in Penrith. The coins will be sold during and antique sale and run to about 220 lots. The sale date is 09/08/17 and live bidding is available online via the saleroom.com or easyliveauction.com. There will be obv and rev pics for each coin and a printed catalogue will be available from the saleroom on request. In addition to the coins I also have 3 Peter Nichols cabinets available. They are a Coronet (his largest which retails at £954 + £55 delivery) and 2 x Standard Crozier (retailing at £678 + £31 delivery). These are not listed for sale yet so please PM if interested.
  21. Women, you can't live with them and you can't live with them......
  22. Your pictures aren't the best! If it is old (difficult to tell from pictures) and brass the most likely ID will come from researching Spanish or French coin weights.
