  1. heh thats cool, always nice to find out that your early buys, you knew nothing about at the time, are rare
  2. you can get some great coins for 8 quid trust me i know.. i rarely spend over 8 quid on one coin and i got some rares and coins of decent value
  3. i have 53 57 and 58 an EF but really halfcrowns are not my focus, but a good UNC coin is just that, good. looking through that list, i am very please dwith my aUNC 1908 farthing lol
  4. oh look a cud in the EXACT SAME SPOT on the reverse as the 2008's
  5. cash here? or in recent times nocashhere
  6. the main problem is the new design coinage, weak strikes and cuds were poping up often on 2008 redesign pieces and it seems they have not gone away but i have found cudding on 2003 20p, i even found a nice doubled portrait one, 2001 seems to have the strasnge double strking effects i dunno if its to do with the thicker rim that that date has.
  7. you know what annoys me, 8/10 times i get a 50p its a 1997... i do love a good circulation search. especally as i netted the small head 1992 20p in EF these are some of the £2 i have found over the years most interesting one (no dot between elizabeth and Def
  8. 1. i would understand if this was end of the year, but so early in the year for a coin that is a cudded mess? 2. this isn't the first minting mess of recent times (got many cudded 2003-5 20ps) (2001 doubled obverses on 5p and 10, 2 of each? i only have ONE other coin like it.. a 1992 type 1 10p) 3. this is the WORST i have seen for circulation its a hard photo to take to get the light to shine off the cuds so they are easy spots. one on rim next to T on elizabeth one under the T and one under H also one on corwn. there was ANOTHER cudded 2010 on ebay last night (large cud on both sides near the rim)
  9. everyone knows the glorious reds are located in the same place the event the prestigious £2's were minted for thats the 2002 commonwealth games
  10. there are a few on ebay, one with bun head victoria all dressed up. nearest i have are coins from prison camps
  11. i have a 1985 saved from change
  12. could get a few 50p's as well. and 2008 £1 old design is lower mintage then 1988 so save one of those
  13. firstly, i can see what could be an H on the picture, and on another however to the eye there is no sign of the H, so i want to put that by the wayside however i was investigating my 1874 H's for die differances one is 7+H (with a narrow date) and another with wide spaced date another is 6+G now for the second part. this 1875 reverse seems to have the trident of the 6+g
  14. yea but i wish they would stop inflicting thier english on everyone else. and why do they do dates backwards
  15. at least we didn't use zinc
  16. would be funny to send it off to get slabbed
  17. no idea, i know 1901 is listed in the books, i have no idea why that would be either.
  18. it could of course be the shine on the coin.
  19. ahh yes overstrikes quite interesting on russian issues, they used older coins as bases for new ones, you can see the eagle wing coming out of the horses head
  20. then the halfpenny would have to return surly
  21. of course the pennys days are numbered, inflation will see it off like it saw off the farthing and halfpennys
  22. they could replace them with 99p coins problem is, there are so many pennys they are not even worth collecting
  23. actually mint darkened coins do show some sort of lustre, it still has the shine see my 1908 i love UNC grade, but i never use it, whats the point, its been in cerculation even if its taken directly from the till from the bag directly from the bank from the mint
  24. i would say thats UNC, very hard to see problems on mint darkened farthings though. i would say its accurate this to me is UNC as i dont see any wear. but something in the lettering and this one, again, to the eye it seems to be worse then the 1908 but on the photo it looks great
