  1. My only dice with light and heavy resulted in a binge on Newcastle brown....and resulted in the triple crown...don't ask.
  2. Certain coins are just not available...where the hell do these prices come from? Ebay for 20C coins are mad...get a few dealers lists and save a fortune.Happily I did most of my farthings from dealers lists at a fraction of Ebay prices...there are still bargains to be had but I just bought a 1930 BU 1d for £15 and a 1958 BU 6d for £2 from lists....50p postage and I'm delighted.Go to coin fairs and make offers...I usually jangle after a day at the Midland with known dealers. Quality and price for nice hammered is madness...hence I shift lesser examples on Ebay.I would never buy my sausages from Harrods when better ones cost a fraction of the price at the local butchers.I think Mr Perkins guide is the most realistic...pity it doesn't go pre 1797...well worth the money and I'm waiting for my 2011 edition
  3. I take my mother to the supermarket every week...however we tend to shop locally and at farm shops most of the time....I do buy some of the supermarket booze bargains...but even their prices have rocketed...my mum used to like those small bottles of wine at 4 for £5....but these have now reduced from 25cl to 18.5cl...she doesn't bother now...BTW Asda green can 4% larger is Fosters at a fraction of the price. We still avoid the local pubs because £10 for 2 drinks and 2 soft drinks is too much
  4. I got their catalogues for a while and failed on my bids...their slabbed coins are priced way OTT. Another one to avoid.
  5. There are some coins that I would pay well over Spink prices...I shan't divulge
  6. I went though thousands of pennies to find H,KN 2mm and even ME's I did strike lucky at a simple auction when I bought a pot full of the key dates.
  7. Only sell recorded postage and state the risk is with the purchaser...I have only sold to France & USA (also UK) a hundred £ hit messes up a lot of hard work....sorry nothing goes to third world countries.
  8. Wow, your local butcher's sells wine by the glass??? The village store is opposite the butchers...it costs a few bob to drive to a supermarket...over the cold period before Xmas I was buying wine at £5.99 a bottle...until I discovered flagons of cloudy scrumpy.I told Mrs Peter it was to cook the pork in ....she asked why it took 2 litres I prefer to use the village shops...and maybe I will ask the butcher to give a free glass of wine with every steak. A point to note that the butcher is far cheaper for meat and veg than supermarkets...use it or lose it.
  9. Hammered need a good looking at.Presently only looking at BSE mint although I can be tempted
  10. Who hasn't bought a few Turkeys and a few gems...buy with your eye and a bit of research ...know the game please...it ain't hard
  11. btw my wife is always sober and I never get Drrrrrrunk.Well something is true...Must pop down to the church now.Or the butchers for a bit of steak and a glass of red
  12. Ee... where there's mook... Yer can't polish a turd...I'm off now but will be here all week
  13. The price of a coin is what the punter will pay...forget Spink Rotagraphic etc there are 99p coins out there for £20 and equally in reverse...know your market and buy books first.
  14. And lets not forget Chris' book, CCGB has some more realistic prices and comes in pocket size I mentioned CCGB in the first line of the list. As to pricing, nobody can give anything more than a ballpark figure. Many coins are available at a range of prices at any one time, usually dependant on the price paid by the seller - i.e. marked up by a certain margin unless acquired on the cheap in which case whatever you think you can get for it. Realistic prices are a personal preserve and will vary from one person to the next in line with their willingness or lack thereof to part with their money, or whether they have specific pieces in mind. The latter are more likely to have a grasp of pricing in their chosen area having missed out in the past.
  15. and my neck is pink after the chaffing of Mrs Peters scarf...
  16. What is a bloody App....don't want them and currently putting my head in the sand....why the info overload..it will end in tears.I really can't understand why other people can't see us going into meltdown...I will fill my fridge buy a barrel of malt and a rifle.
  17. I did my first dealings from coin monthly...it used to arrive and the call made that day...it wasn't till I had a bit of surplus that I treated the family out to Harrowgate or Coventry that I bought quality....I remember spending a couple of grand at the Midland and the wife still doesn't know...It is still worth more than I paid...plus I have enjoyed them.Might have to sell soon as both daughters want Uni and cars.I sometimes wish I remained single and if it F##ks floats or flys rent it.
  18. I still haven't got my 2011 copy...pull your finger out Chris
  19. Despite further abuse Coincrafts 2000 edition will point you in the right way....Although the prices are getting almost on the knocker.
  20. Whoooosh...My IT buddies are my teenage girls who have set me up on facebook without a clue how to reply....bring back supercalc and ban these mobile phone thingies....I do like the internet and the vast amount of info but 3am and the wife storming downstairs is frightening....is it me or do you need a update on a weekly basis....my girls are after an applie I pad thingie and I thought Wii and playstation 3 would suffice....can't we get back to hoops, gocarts and written letters.
  21. I prefer to buy drugs locally..what do the spammers hope to achieve?
  22. Yep the coin is worth face value...there are many mugs out there and you might double your money....but hey who wants to list a coin pay Ebay and paypal fees and still visit the post office....that is why I'm looking for a proper job again.
  23. There are a lot of old names that come and go I rember a copy of coin monthly which had a page 3 flossie avertising pennies...anyone want to buy my buns or old head
  24. Don't buy it, get it free from the stables. Speaking of which, reminds me of the time when I carted a wheelbarrow full of free pigs**t home from the other side of town when I was young. The looks of disdain were a wonder to behold as I slopped my way through the town centre. Only Northerners would do that we get muck delivered in squeaky clean bags....I must say Coincrafts 2000 catalogue was good the pricing is almost right now...crap paper...but I still bought one.
  25. There are bargains on Ebay but know your market and bid accordingly.I did buy a 1849 VF farthing from a dealers list for £6....you can't be an expert on all coins
