  1. and there is the Hotel
  2. I've just had a flick through Coin News and I noted Coinex will only have BNTA members selling.£50 earlybird tickets again to the public who will have to scrap with dealers for the prime pieces. Bit of a closed shop methinks.I was debating taking Mrs Peter to a London show this weekend, letting her loose with my daughters in Oxford street...and me to coinex and the BM. When we did the calcs of Coinex, show, meal, train travel(most probably bus due to engineering work). We all agreed NAH.
  3. CC bought Everson's collection and has been selling them.I prefer hammered silver farthings but good examples can make good money. Happy hunting. They are De minimus to most dealers/collectors.
  4. It varies on the value of the coin and speed of grading.
  5. I haven't stretched to patterns. It is an attractive silver disc though.
  6. I wondered what one of those looked like Mint condition aswell
  7. Zippy can get rid of Rainbow toning Try a dip in PURE acetone and a rinse under water and a pat dry.
  8. I just had a close look under the loupe, Peck, and you are, to a certain extent, right. Though not as much right as the photos I have posted here might suggest, I can see what you mean. Perhaps the slabber was eating a particularly flaky pasty, or rolling a cigarette with particularly old tobacco, at the time it was sealed. Phew, my confidence in them is restored! A bit of magic mushroom pizza or smome good weed maybe
  9. I just love rearranging my farthing trays every time I get a new variety. But hey it keeps me focussed/off the wine and fewer cuban cigars....well almost. We have no wine/beer/cigars in the house after "an eventful" gathering for my 17 year old daughters birthday. The lads were great again smoking cubans rather than rollies...the girls threw up everywhere and there were tears non stop.Cost me £150 in cigars. Oh bring back the days of 10 pin bowling a burger and goodie bag at the end of it.
  10. So that's both NGC and PCGS not to be trusted where British predecimal is concerned. I mean, it's hardly a minority interest area is it? Hardly obscure. And another thing... I had to pay Royal Mail £8 for the privilege of getting charged £1.22 VAT for its import from the US. Harumph. I have bought slabbed coins from CC from MS 63 to 65 and to be honest have graded themselves.I have seen some scandles from CGS.Just pop it it up here Bonjour our NGC PCGS ANACS twats.
  11. Declan I would break it out send it to CGS and then get it published in Coin News.I wouldn't give it EF.MS 64 should be a nice Unc.Wasters.
  12. TPG's are not experts in every field. Why do people even believe this? I don't take my Lada to be serviced at a BMW dealer. If they only own a Krause how the heck can they describe anything. At one time I bought a few coins based on a slab grade from the US "big two" never again I want Dave's dinner plate sized pictures BTW RIP Lada
  13. I missed the h out of farthings. I'm supprised I haven't had a few large fish wrapped around my chops It is my eldest birthday (17) and the wine has been flowing.( at least she knows her blue nun from a nice burgandy) Isn't 17 a little young for uniforms? Peck they have gone out to crash a party in the village...long may it last.We used to have speakeasies around the local villages and made the press a few times. My bollo*cks still carry a few scars of leaping over a barbed wire fence with the police hot on our heels.

  15. Welcome Cristatus The forum should be a good place for you.We have many dealers and farthing buffs (Me included) My collection is complete apart from tin and a few rare varieties.I have a few modern proofs but no Droz or patterns. I remember John Minishall (farthing specialist) and bought many coins from him. If you didn't know Aboutfartings.co.uk is excellent and is run by a forum member (Colin Goode) Settle yourself in and enjoy the chat Peter
  16. Geez a CC for gunmoney?????????? I have a nice Gun money shilling,I now have the 6d.It is just a area which I find interesting...William just around the corner.William and Mary I really like.
  17. I'm still learning and love every minute. There is rarely a boring post.I was explaining gun money to Mrs Peter earlier after she saw my credit card account I did need the 6d.The 3 farthings etc.She trusts me
  18. If you want an expert I think the forum caters nicely.
  19. I've done very well in the past from their incompetence. They are alright as long as you do your homework, and as a bonus frequently screw up to the advantage of the observant. Mine's a pint. I think you must live in Baker Street I have picked up a few snippets over the years as a result of knowledge.
  20. What worries me about the 1934 crown, for a minage of 932 there seem an awful lot of them around. Now now Gary. The Chinese are getting good.NGC will slab them for you.
  21. That is incompetance. They should stick to modern US crap.I have a few "modern"slabbed coins (Victorian) from these boys. They can now get stuffed.
  22. Blimey Scott. The 1st coin looks too round to be Henry 11 (probably 111)
  23. CC grading has dropped on early copper. I bought the Ebay coin and in hand very pleased. I recently bought a 1679 from ebay (John Newman) and was delighted.CC are over grading. My opinion but 40 years collecting.
  24. Colin wouldn't even try to sell that crap.
  25. What do you prefer? http://www.colincooke.com/coinpages/georgeii.html http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390467605933?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_500wt_1288 What is going on at CC?
