Hello, I thought this was the answer, just me mum just kept on with "one day these will be worth a fortune...!" I kept the silver ones that weren't to bad, the completely rubbed ones I sold for scrap.. it paid for one sovereign that quadrupled in price, I know mum would of had a fit but it would take a life time to explain some of the more practical points of collecting.

1806 GIII Penny.....a question about Verdigris... can this be treated other than destroying the patina
-
Today I found some copper coins that were the left over of the copper 1 Penny coins from my mum. The Victorian ones were all bashed rubbed and Verdigris and in life with so much to sort out I had these checked out. I kept these as were in a better condition than most. please pass on your views

Wow, that's a lovely looking coin and from my finds impossible to imagine these found in such a great condition. thank you for sharing this so impressive to see, Thank you for pointing out the "C" Chester Mint, which is interesting to be able to discover more information from it being so worn out. Looking into this further the William III is 25mm across.... A Shilling I think is right.... once again many thanks for all of the input. Rgds "H" -
Hello Paddy, I cant be of any help, it would be useful to see the obverse to others in the know, and some times the latin may be helpful, as I did with the scudo that I found in a tub of mixed coins, I will be watching with interest...... all the best

William III 1672–1702, Half Crown ? this is badly rubbed but the only William III I have managed to find. Looking into things I also read that there's a 1689 Halfcrown - William & Mary on the same coin, never seen one of these -
Hello Jerry... I did wonder... I believe this was a fashion, its rubbed and de valued like drilled coins... it was my Mam who believed it to be most valuable when passing it onto me,....... Sorry Mam don't shoot the messenger! many thanks "H"

I've delved back into my Grandads hoard and picked these out as i thought they were of interest, I was caught by the obverse of the 1723....until I had a look on the E(vil)Bay now.... to be honest the 1826 George IV Milled Silver Shilling is probably the nicest .... £20.....ish 1816 George III Silver Shilling is probably the most worn.... silver weight scrap.....not that I'm looking to do so.. 1723 George I Silver Shilling... again I seen others and record prices.....Yes £145 would been a nice example to own however... £20.....ish To close, many thanks for the comments and do keep them coming, I hope the listings of the show & tells are of entertainment for you, this really is an education so thank you one and all. 👍
