  1. Hi Rob, Ive not had a Half Crown with a similar issue, this 12 shilling is my first, I didn't keep records of how much I paid for these back then but knowing me it wouldn't have been that much... Interesting to pick up on this information now in my days.... as I do recall that I did once consider getting rid of it as being un worth keeping ...... so pleased I did keep it..... many thanks for the input, 👍
  2. Charles I, 12 Shillings Tower Mint with the cracks would this have happened if the silver hadn't been anneal prior to being hammered ?
  3. It was a boot fair find ages ago, I don't clean coins unless they are covered in crud, I warm soak for hours and then use a ultra soft tooth brush with fresh water, pat dry....but nothings been done to this one by me.
  4. many thanks 👍
  5. I found this now to be quite an easy coin to understand, ....... unless told otherwise..... Elizabeth 1 Six Pence 1569 Mint, Coronet, Tower
  6. gosh where do I begin worn out, I believe they are Edward Penny's ? I have tried but nothing found remotely similar or without any confidence of getting things correct......so.... any suggestions?
  7. I feel a bit more clued in with what's not British coins since being here, back in the days this was just considered like all the others and I beleved it was a groat...... and I didn't have the free time to be able to look into the coins. So Far........ it has a double headed Eagle and I can make out, MONE . NO . LVH on the reverse Cross on orb containing value 192 ? I found a similar coin that's a "Polker" and so could be possibly Polish? 10mm across if enough of the coin remains, any help (as always) greatly appreciated.
  8. awwwww welll I'm getting closer on somethings....... only one class out, and wrong moneyer.... please that at least the correct king.... the sceptre on the coin was a nice find for me, thank you for all your time and input, I'm actually documenting all the information and keeping this with each coin. many many thanks Its a real help. Cheers "H"
  9. I could have never made this out, "Canterbury moneyer Nicole on Cant" the letters are almost unrecognizable.....to me, many thanks for figuring this out for me. all the best "H"
  10. Henry III 1250 - 51 Penny Long Cross ( nice to see the sceptre and other details) could be class 4 ? now the reverse was a hard translation...... so this is a stab in the dark RIC ARD ONL VND "Richard of London" the moneyer ? *** Please let this be right*** 🙏
  11. Crikey, so many classes, (for me its steep learning curve..... still early days) I did carefully work through them all..... pleased to find out its earlier than Edward III 👍👍👍
  12. Wow, proving even with "Bits" (as I refer to them being) its possible to still identify a coin, impressed that it can even be dated, Marlet was used for the years 1560-61, The Bits I found at a Ascot boot fair, I seem to remember it was the 1990's and a golden Virginia tobacco tin with a mixture of the very old and 1950's I had the five Bits and in my open palm I asked How Much? "£1" many thanks, as I walked away I heard a comment that someone was say "you've been robbed!" now in 2025....do you think so??? Its been fantastic after all the years being able to (with the generous help) Identify the coins and understand how interesting these small pieces of history that we are custodians of....in time they will become part of someone else's collection......but not for some to yet. ........once again a big thank you for all of your time and input....I couldn't have gone this far with out the help....Rgds "H"
