ahhhhhhhhhhhh! so that answers another coin question, I wasn't keen on keeping certain coins (such as this one) but as its explainable and as a talking point will add it to the "on hold" pile for now.... I'm keeping the Counterstamp coin as this is fascinating me although others see it devalued....

1922 florin (already shown Feb 8th) ....... this seems to have issues, on looking closer it looks like brass is eating through, I understood these are .500 silver..... could it be this is fake? is there an age reaction that happens?? or am I misunderstanding???

Ahhhhhhhh,! the forum has been a wealth of information, Ive been sorting through 30 odd years of picking up silver coins and only now beginning to get coins in a date order these start off in 1200's into the 1800's over 18 different coins, ok so value is of interest however finding out the scarcer they are has out weighed this for my interest...its also nudge me into learning more about The Royals...... Numista has been a useful place that I will look to... many thanks Peckris 2,

Crikey.... I didnt realise, I thought Numista was based on a rarity index listed else where ? I do have to say there was such a rarity index else where then please do share...id hate to be responsible for listing duff information, and like others i will find a rarity index of use. I have a random and eclectic hoard of silver coins that I assembled over 30 odd years, pre internet purchases, I haven't followed a plan just buy silver coins as I find and if I have the "Brass" to buy them....I wouldn't say I was a good judge and was more luck and what's knocking around at the particular day..... A detectorist invited me to a walk around a field that I cancelled on a cold wet day in favour of a Antique Fair in a warm hall. I picked up a Victorian Crown for a £5..... the detectorist found some coppers and nickels... subsequently the metal detector was sold and silver coins bought...... I'd like to have ago at finding some coins this way at least once in my life.... but whats going around is there to be found.....me thinks!?!??! all the very best and do show and tell...it sounds all very interesting.

with the scudo I picked up I knew it was of interest to me, this coin by not seeing it in my hand I cant relate a strong enough interest to it... so the hunt continues, thank you for the input. 👍

its no good I spent hours.....Really Hours looking.......and found this...... A Huò Quán (貨泉) coin issued by Wáng Mǎng (王莽), these coins were introduced alongside a chaotic system of round coins, cowrie shells, turtle shells, knife money , and spade money. As the people preferred this coin it would be continued to be made even after the fall of the Xin Dynasty with a mould from the year 50 (fifty) being found. Tang Dynasty (Tang Empire, was an imperial dynasty of China that ruled from 618 to 907) 唐朝 Apparently...... another thing thats ironic is China is a large area of fakes....not just coins !?!?!?!?

I really cant remember when I found this, not ever found out about and its been left forever...... re discovered in a box of other interesting items still awaiting my attention. so...any ideas, I think its copper, Chinese cash coin and thats about all I can say about.... anyone know any more about these? all the best "H"

I happened upon Numista.... when I first join the Forum I was depending on everyone to tell me everything.... I've been experiencing fatigue an its been difficult trying to get things right... I did happen upon Numista that seems a useful place to check out coins an lots of extra information, they lower down provided a Numista Rarity index: and a Bullion value: which is useful to know if buying worn out ones so you don't over pay.... I'm also trying to keep the forum tidy and add to my existing topic rather than keep opening new topic... my local "Antiques Fair" has been far than that, the guy who has a box of this and that coins he keep to one side and normally has some hammered coins the lower end but affordable and hes a great guy to know....second time he didn't turn up and Ive been offered first dibs on some Russian silver coins 1800's since Jan...... another dealer who has coins but its all modern nickels and I dont get on with these... I did find a token but keep me busy ..... a brass Fruit & Bell one arm bandit games token... and I did find at the bottom of it all a King George III 1738-1820 Wellington Alexander Bulcher Peace 1814 Medal..... with out this a waste of Sunday !?!?!??!
