  1. Start with the ones you think are the best, Paul, then we'll know where we're at...
  2. So was I, Stu!
  3. Here's the page for 1858 pennies. Learn it off by heart, Macsilky! http://www.michael-coins.co.uk/cp_1858.htm
  4. I always wonder about putting things like denomination, date and monarch on when the Mint have done a pretty good job of labelling the coin with those already. I tend to just put the things that aren't immediately obvious on as labels, like "2+B".
  5. Where can I access that, Peck? I've got it in PDF Stuart if you want it.... Hey, cheers, Declan, that would be very much appreciated! sent to your enquiries at george coins email stuart - it's much bigger than the 150kb limit for posting here...
  6. Just looked up that transaction, Peter, September 2011. Turns out I sold it to a certain gazza-d....
  7. Where can I access that, Peck?I've got it in PDF Stuart if you want it....
  8. Hello Andriulis Most 1911 denominations have hollow and flat neck varieties, and the florin is no exception. Hollow neck: I of GEORGIVS to the right of a beadD of F.D. to the left of a beadI of IND to the right of a bead Flat neck:I of GEORGIVS between beadsD of F.D. between beadsI of IND at a bead The hollow neck is quite a bit scarcer.
  9. What did you get kicked out for, sweep?
  10. behind every successful man is an astonished woman...
  11. An EF LIMA halfcrown for twice face? Blimey. They were good times to be a collector.
  12. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Replica-new-12-sided-one-pound-coin-based-on-the-threepenny-bit-/151262117366?pt=UK_Coins_BritishDecimal_RL&hash=item2337ecbdf6 Words fail me....
  13. You find that with a lot of the key dates, John. Much more people fished 1925s out of circulation than did 1924s, because of the awareness of key dates on the run up to decimalisation, so although there may be plenty of 1925s listed on eBay, they'll all be duffers!
  14. I got my very first 1758 shilling at a car boot about 10 years ago...
  15. Putin called. He wants to lease some space in my garage. What's the worst that can happen?
  16. That's how it starts, you see. It's a slippery slope. Maybe you bought a group when you only wanted the one coin in it, so you had to move the rest on. Maybe car tax and car insurance fell in the same month so you sold a bit to get through that. "I'm not dealing, it's just short-term...I can handle it..." Then you see a nice group of high grade coins at auction and before you know what's happened you've bid on it and you've bought solely for stock. You're a dealer, and what's more, you're dealing to fund your habit, and now you're paying most of your bills with it you can't stop. Oh to be a collector again....
  17. Nice. Always check for the E/N in REGINA on them - they do go unnoticed sometimes.
  18. "No returns". Mmm, that's confidence inspiring for a 4 figure purchase.
  19. I think Peter meant Denis Thatcher.... he must have been really bad in a previous life.
  20. And here they are Florins 1925 & 1932 T.JPG Florins 1925 & 1932 H.JPG ouch! Nasty. Thanks for bothering with the photos though!
  21. Make him an offer, Damian! You won't know what the premium on the slab is till you do (if any). Don't assume anything, honestly, talk to the man. I can't tell the difference between a 64 and a 65, and it's my job. See if you can find one better, perhaps? They can be surprisingly difficult that good.
  22. Get a bit of a run-up, Chris, and I reckon it's worth a go.
  23. I use the Best Offer option a lot as well as AJW. You'd be amazed at what we'd consider - I generally prefer to keep the coins moving if I can, so it's very rare to get a flat No. I've dealt with Andy, and I'll vouch for him too. A good man.
