  1. I did have a look at this one too thinking it was an unofficial farthing but it isn't. its some kind of token though
  2. Age doesn't matter thazz, I started at 15/16. What got me started was I noticed a difference in thickness to the then newly sized 10p and wrote to the mint asking about it. Turned out there was no difference in thickness just a 'round' edge and a 'square' edge. I still have the letter they sent somewhere. I collected the proof sets for a number of years then progressed to older coins and finally settled on tokens, unofficial farthings to be exact, but still collect coins where the designs appeal to me. And thazz....16 seconds to solve a rubix cube?!?!? I couldn't do one in 16 days!!!!!
  3. My first thought was some teenager has raided daddy's collection.....could you imagine
  4. It makes you wonder why someone would break a set up just to spend it, I know there not worth a fortune but you can make a small premium if you sell them
  5. I once had a proof pound coin in change a few years back but it's design was used on circulating coinage too. That's been the only one though in 25 years of collecting
  6. Sadly I know this is true, I'm just pleased that what I collect hasn't (as yet) been faked. As you say it all boils down to eBays bottom line and what % they can make
  7. Reported that one. I might make it my mission to weed out same fakes on the bay today as I'm waiting in for a delivery lol
  8. So it does, well spotted! It also means that there's another three designs to look out for!
  9. I also did a google search for tokens by Allen & Moore but nothing came up
  10. I was going to bid on this one too but like you it went above my limit. it looks exquisite and I'm guessing it's a card token of some kind as the reverse shield has what looks like a spade in the centre of it
  11. It might be time to sell my example I got in change a few years back and buy something a little more in keeping with my collection
  12. I was told that when I wanted to send a few coins and tokens over (as you low value under £20) and just decided to risk it and send them, they arrived there safely about a week later. I got the impression it was just the post office covering themselves in case they did get destroyed
  13. Sadly I feel it's just a drop in the ocean. Still if we don't try.....
  14. I saw hundreds of these at the flea fair yesterday........could of made a fortune!!!
  15. Reported!
  16. I didn't either but if those 'In the know' know that's good enough for me!
  17. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Charles-l-Civil-War-Hammered-Seige-Coin-/182763263841 reported it too
  18. My latest additions, nothing spectacular and not my usual area of collecting but a nice memento of my holiday in Canada. The quarter cent is supposed to glow in the dark.......it doesn't!!
  19. It's the first fake £2 I've come across, if the queens head was sharper I'm sure more people would be fooled. I believe there's a website listing all the different £2 designs that have been faked but I can't locate it at the moment
  20. Not sure if this will be of interest to anyone but got this in my change this morning. It's the correct diameter and weight with the graining and edge lettering perfect, at first glance I thought it was a weak strike but the coin feels 'greasy' and has no ring to it at all when flipped.
  21. How long does it take? Are we talking days or weeks?
  22. I saw the title 'Slabbed Potter' and thought have they released a harry potter coin now???
  23. Hello there, all one and two penny coins minted from 1992 onwards are copper plated steel and the coin you have is a standard two pence which is missing it's full coat of copper. I have an example of a penny in my collection which has no copper coating at all. Hope this helps
  24. Me too
  25. There's at least two with the wrl stamp, I've reported them too
