  1. Always loved Florence
  2. My latest addition, as I don't have the coin yet these are the dealers pictures. This is my first Anne error
  3. Yes your right Dec, the die numbers started in 1864 through to 1879. The coin in question does look like an 1874
  4. Just a random thought on the colour of the boxes, was the different colours from different outlets? a bit like the modern crowns which came in the plastic wallets with 'Midland bank' 'Barclays' 'Lloyds' etc
  5. British Silver coins by Peter J Davies Since 1816. I bought a copy a month or so back to read up on Victoria shillings and its proving very useful
  6. I personaly don't collect pennies but i have sold a couple in this condition, nothing rare but they still made £10 and £12 each which I considered quite respectable
  7. There's just so many of them, reported too
  8. Hopfully I'll make it too the next one
  9. I couldn't get the sticky label off it otherwise I'd have done it with the foil. Oh and it's now a quarter penny!!!
  10. I saw it and couldn't resist! How was the fair today? I wanted to come but couldn't make it
  11. Its actually chocolate Rob, my attempt at being funny!
  12. I couldn't make it to the midland coin fair today but I did find this little beauty in my local shop, it's a bit of a weak strike and it does have a nasty die crack running through the obverse but it has lovely chocolate tones too it...........
  13. The more you look at it the more It's 'wrong' look at the nose and mouth
  14. And some of the category's his listing them in ?!?!?!
  15. I have no idea how it's happened but I like it!
  16. I did see the 1863 shilling zoo but never noticed the markings. I passed it by for another which I shall post up when it arrives as id like opinions on it, hopefully that will be tomorrow
  17. Adds to the fun as long as you keep your expectations low! lol
  18. I too have had a few bargains off the bay with regard to unofficial farthings, all comes down to the description and if your prepared to trawl through the crap. A favourite description seems to be 'Victoria token' which can mean any number of things!
  19. Unless I'm missing something you can't even tell the time with it!
  20. Thank you that puts my mind at rest somewhat, I know there are forgeries of some dates but as this is quite a common date I'm sure it's fine. At the moment I don't have a camera so can't upload any pictures
  21. I have in my collection a 1930 trade dollar for use in the far east and my understanding is that this date was minted solely by the Royal Mint in London and doesn't have a mint mark, however my example has a 'B' for the Bombay mint in India. Does anybody know if any examples of this date was minted in Bombay or do I have a forgery, the diameter and weight are correct and it was bought from a reputable dealer. As I only wanted an example for the design I haven't questioned the mint mark before
  22. Thank you for that I'll get myself a copy
  23. Hello all, In the new year I have a bit of spare cash coming in on a regular basis and want to expand my collection. I mainly collect farthing tokens, engraved coins and errors but want something a little more 'classy' and have decided on young head Victoria shillings. Please could somebody recommend a decent book on the subject or a good general book for reference so I can read up. Many thanks, Will
  24. I'm waiting for one of those offers now Declan, everything is photographed and ready to go lol
  25. I'd rather have the full boxes and empty them myself!!!
