If I can find the setting among the hundreds of others, I'll try switching it to force plain text (instead of defaulting, I think, to rich text). It may have been plain text before. That could be the issue. -
Looks more like a lamination issue to me. I wonder if someone has tried to stick something in the gap out of curiosity, or might just be the pics. Those 3 halfpence are tiny.

It comes out very jumbled doesn't it. What is the name of the abbreviation software? -
Not bad. Coincidentally, those are IMO textbook examples of a normal circulated coin (around Fine) - the crown, a mid grade coin (around VF) - the florin, and a higher grade coin (around EF) - the shilling.

The five on the left are some of the normal British WWII issue. The Italy one will be relevant later... The star at the top and the 2 on the right... I'm cheating a bit because I know your surname and how to use search engines. Gold one is the general Polish WWII medal and the cross is the Polish Monte Cassino medal. So what does the star on the blue/black indicate? -

Sorted, I think! For some reason those who are in the group 'Moderators' were not allowed to upload/drag/attach images. Try it now. -

Can you show me a screenshot or shots of exactly what it says and where it goes wrong? Obviously you can't post them here so would have to email. Unless attaching the long way round works. -
I think any coin person would have recognised it instantly and been able to find the exact type based on the details that can just about be made out. I'm pleased that I was better at it than millions of dollars of silicon valley AI power. I must admit though, I did use google lens to identify something the other day. 😉 I haven't been that active on the forum for quite a while, and do you know what, it's good to be back!

Here we are, looks like this type, or a similar Paley's issue. D&H on that page is a reference to the major catalogue of such coins by Dalton and Hamer. In it, there are 10 slightly different varieties of basically the same design: Richard Paley's Bishop Blaize and Lamb Leeds Conder Halfpenny 1791

Might there be some kind of setting to improve that? (I mean in the settings of the forum) -
It's some kind of 'Conder' regional token, almost certainly a halfpenny. Date appears to be 1791. That's probably a sheep fleece in the coat of arms and it's probably a bishop on the other side - someone will know what town that makes it! Unless you can read anything off it.

Both of you are now Enthusiasts, which I know is also below your standing. The default ranks are a bit odd, they go: Newbie, Rookie, Apprentice, Explorer, Contributor, Enthusiast, Collaborator, Community Regular, Rising Star, Proficient, Experienced, Mentor, Veteran, Grand Master. I can change the names and points required, add more etc. -
Hello. Certainly a nice looking coin cabinet. I hope the content is equally high-end! The greenness is caused by PVC, which was a common constituent of plastic coin albums from the 60s to 80s (and sometimes beyond). You may be lucky and be able to remove the mess with acetone, which won't harm the coins.

What kind of device/browser are you using? It is the same if you try something else? -

Everyone has defaulted to newbie I'm afraid. I can bump anyone up (have done for you) if they don't fancy waiting to accrue points again. -

There's also a 'MID' leaf on the miniatures, but not on the full size. But if that's how they got to you, assuming your grandfather is no longer with us, then probably best left as they are. -

Excellent! Took me a while to ID that last one on the right. Dutch Orange-Nassau, fabulous. The ribbon looks very similar to the standard WWI British War Medal. -

Paddy and others, try dragging an image into a post. Should work now. Here's one such image: (That's a still from a Blue Peter episode where they used 2 of my coin images in a Penny Farthing Bicycle feature - earned me a Blue Peter badge!) -

Not at all, thank you and so many others. Still not there yet with the dragging image into post error issue, but I'm making slow progress - I think. It also affects the customisation of pages and keeps booting me out behind the scenes, very annoying. -
Can I discern HADRIANUS for Hadrian on the one of the right? Looks like him if my memory is correct. The one on the left, Maybe Trajan?

So did I! I think that's because it's recalibrating, counting posts, indexing images etc etc in the background. Very pleased to see you both though! It means it seems to be working for others, too. -

It was supposed to be a simple case of copying some files from here to there and then running an 'upgrade' script, but of course it became an 8 hour ordeal just to get things into a state where it would even allow me to run the upgrade script, with just blank failure shown on screen and mostly unhelpful messages if at all. Emails to and from my host and a support request with the Invision forum people, plus me baffooning around trying to change random settings that I read online had helped for a bloke called Keith in a similar but different situation and here we are! It's all upgraded so hopefully it now works flawlessly in every respect. What definitely no longer works in the rest of the predecimal.com site (from the root, i.e. without the /forum bit). That wasn't really doing much and the aim is to now move the forum over to the root so that predecimal.com is just the forum. I'll also change that old banner stuff at the top and maybe add some extra info about predecimal.com, but first, let's see how all this new software and stuff works.
