  1. I'm not sure if I can delete that as it's like a viewable message between you and PWA 1967. Says it's a status update. I would have thought there should be a way for you to delete/change it.

Hi Chris I just cannot find a way to delete it the other day. I now cannot find it at all. This is driving me mad now. I would have thought admin would be able to delete it. If you can find it again perhaps you can send a link so perhaps I may be able to delete it from my end. It seems that on most posts you only have a window of an hour to edit the post unfortunately by limiting the edit of a post can cause problems with situations like this. On most of the forums I have been on allow editing at any time. Only my opinion on this matter, it would be better if you could edit posts as and when instead of limiting this process.

      Regards Mick

      PS Hope you can help

  2. The Kindle version has been known to have alignment issues. In the printed version it is clearer (and the £30 is properly under Fine), but it is possible that a tab is missing there too. I will make sure they are moved over and adjusted next time.
  3. The answer is that the 2018 predecimal book already available (since the 8th December). The 2018 decimal book will come in about Feb/March, as I need to wait for the RM to release the 2018 sets first, something they now seem to do on the 1st Jan and no longer in the previous November. I do often quote silly newspaper gossip, but the actual prices are real ones at the time of going to press.
  4. A 2017 main (obverse) dated pound with micro 2016 dates on the reverse was reported to me yesterday. I haven't been able to confirm it though and it may well be that someone is confused and it is the known main 2016 date with tiny 2017 on the reverse type.
  5. Hello toddmeister, thank you joining the forum and thank you for buying one of my books.
  6. Yes, it's a replica sovereign-looking half of a coin that would have originally been stuck in a cheap ring.
  7. Thanks. Mind at rest now!
  8. I don't suppose someone could do me a favour and attempt to buy something cheap on predecimal.com (once with paypal as payment option and again with card selected as payment option). Someone reported that it doesn't work and goes into some kind of loop. Obviously I'll refund any payments taken. Something cheap would be this 1981 crown for example: http://www.predecimal.com/crown-1981-p-213.html
  9. Hardly a week goes by when I don't get offered one of those RM canvass sealed bags of 1967 pennies or halfpennies Matt. I wish I could sell more than about 10 of the coins for a £1 or so annually, but there are just so many of them. The rest I scrap as 95% copper. The start price is probably not far out for 15kg, but I'm not sure exactly what the value of copper is at the moment.
  10. Those were the best pics I took out of a few. They show the Mary bust best, but they do look old (the tooling).
  11. And this is what the original Flanders Groot botdrager should look like.
  12. I found this very interesting today. This came with a load of other coins and had a label stating it was a Philip and Mary Groat with portrait of Mary only. I thought nothing of it at first because it's not in great condition, but on closer inspection the shield and cross looked wrong. On even closer inspection the legends also looked wrong - what's left of them. In fact, for a P&M groat they are totally wrong. It took me quite a while doing detective work (hammered aren't my thing really), trying to work out what it says after the very clear 'PHILIP' and on the back between the arms of the cross. There are a lot of tooling marks on the shield and the faint bust of Mary. As my eyes tuned-in better to the writing style of those days it gradually became clearer with a lot of googling that the reverse actually reads ...NOME DNI BENEDICTVM, which led me in a French direction and eventually helped decipher the obverse which instead of reading PHILIP Z MARIA, actually reads PHILIPP DEI G D BVRG Z COM FLAND.... It's Philip Duke of Burgundy (1384 - 1404) and the coin is a Flanders Groot (groat) which should look like the coin posted in the comments. Someone at some stage, at least 150 years later and for whatever reason, has filed off what should be on the obverse (a lion with a flag) and has replaced it with a scratched out effigy of Mary in order to masquerade it as an English groat. That's a lot of effort to go to on a piece of silver that would have probably been readily accepted as cash at the time in its original form! Why?
  13. Yes it can be, but these are real. Another has also come to light but I haven't seen it yet so can't confirm 100%. I suspect they struck a lot like this with wrong alignment.
  14. A new discovery, confirmed by me (I have one) and with 2 other confirmed examples known. 2015 Britannia £2 with die alignment out about 100 degrees. There must be more out there. http://www.checkyourchange.co.uk/2015-britannia-2-incorrect-alignment/
  15. Got these. Open to offers. http://www.predecimal.com/british-predecimal-coins-double-florins-c-51_32_34.html
  16. Looks similar to mine, but the images are very small. I have mine hanging on the wall now, never found out anything else about it!
  17. Interesting. Those links seem to work for me fine. How is it now?
  18. Forum is fine now, but the ads are still on the main site! At least they are for me. Dave and Stuntman, do you see the ads on the predecimal.com homepage?
  19. I first saw the silly ad things last Thursday and thought they were am malware problem on my PC. I asked the hosts, he could see no sign of them, so I went to GB for 5 days and thought nothing more of it, until I heard from Nordle the yesterday! It seems it wasn't a local thing at all. I asked the hosts again today and at first they found nothing, but after a proper look there seems to be malicious code on the server which was causing them. £150 later and they seem to be gone from the forum. Is everyone else ad-free now? To me they still appear on the main predecimal.com pages, but work is ongoing.
  20. Can someone post a link to the coin in question please.
  21. Can someone post a link to the actual 1836 Half Crown on ebay, I can't find it. Are you sure it's Mr Platt's coin? Martin Platt is on fb a lot and I often run into him (in a nice way!). He's actually very helpful on there, not only to lots of people with the usual questions, but he's also been a big help to me with various pictures I've needed in the past, among other things. I have no doubt that the Yell reviews are all genuine reviews.
  22. No. I'm just relaying the content of a BNTA email recently received. I thought it can't help to have it on the internet either. If 2 or more are offered in the same grades, it's probably quite a coincidence!
  23. The following coins, all graded and in NGC slabs have gone missing from Fedex Stansted this week. If offered these coins, please contact Stephen Fenton on 020 7930 7888 and mention that you saw this info here: 1911 Half Sovereign PF63 Cameo 1911 Sovereign PF63 Cameo 1937 Half Sovereign PF64 1937 Sovereign PF66 Cameo 1937 Two Pounds PF65 1911 Two Pounds PF66 Ultra Cameo 1937 Five Pounds PF65 1785 Guinea MS63 1786 Guinea MS63 1799 Guinea MS62
  24. Where?
  25. I seem to remember a few years ago when London coins had some kind of Investment Portfolio thing (with a different name) selling slabbed PCGS coins. There was a membership fee which was refunded after a certain sum of coins was purchased. I'd amassed nearly that sum buying things for a client and then they stopped it and started CGS and slabbing them themselves. I asked about the membership fee, if the total credit could be passed on etc. Got a reply weeks later after a further email saying 'No'. Absolutely terrible customer service, always. And now this happens, which looks very similar to me. Not a good show at all, and all the £99 and £499 subscriptions fees smack of desperation to me.
