A palm my wife photographed in Brisbane's Mt. Coot-Tha botanic gardens growing in one of the beds. Many palms have dangerous thorns but this one is something else. It's a Salacca palm from Indonesia that bares an edible fruit. Can't say I would be too keen to pick it.

Ah, that's not quite what you said, Pete. You said "23 years that did not have a currency 50p struck". That is not factually correct as every other year bar the ones I mentioned had a currency 50p struck - Royal mint mintage figures will bear out what I've said. They may not have included all the designs for any given year, but nevertheless a currency strike was made.1 point

Out of stock already. I'm tempted to buy up some sets for the other years with no currency 50 pences...if a few people go for it, it will be a self-fulfilling prophecy.1 point

I agree with Jerry that the "S" is probably Sheffield and the letters after that are "EP" I think, and stands for electroplate. The marks for a "Roberts and Belk" sterling silver item are shown below. They look similar but the all-important lion passant mark, which signifies sterling silver is present. The assay office mark (crown for Sheffield) would also not be present on a silver plate object.
