Stu his site Petitioncrowns will give an insight to Geoff. It humbles my collection. He will & be dearly missed. He told me that he once sold his house to buy a coin that he had to have. Hopefully he can find Mrs Peter in heaven to prove I'm not the only coin nerd on the planet.3 points

It is with deep regret that I have to announce the loss of a forum member. I was informed yesterday afternoon that Geoffrey Cope, aka Petitioncrown on the forum has passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer. Geoff was a passionate collector of Roman coins and those of the British Isles, who had sought only the best pieces for over 50 years. His enthusiasm for acquiring new pieces was undiminished right up to a couple of weeks before his death. For a few years now, his stated mission was that if he could inspire 10 people a year to collect coins, then he had done his bit to make the hobby safe for the future. It is fair to say that a quick perusal of his website should inspire anyone interested in history and art to collect coins. As a great supporter and patron of all things numismatic, frequently making items from his collection available to museums in order that they should be available to a wider audience, his death is a loss to the wider hobby. My thoughts are with his two sons and their families at this time.2 points

Reinald is the moneyer. A Reinald minted under Henry II and Richard Ist at London , Canterbury and Northampton. I'd need to dig deeper to gather much more information. The mints a no goer I fear as it could be LVN , NOR or a simple CA.1 point

It wasn't meant to be the full exact mint name, they couldn't fit it all on so it was abbreviated. I make it as IOH/OHS’/EDM/VHD which i suppose would translate as Ion at St edmunds so it would be SEDMUND as what looks like an H is actually an N and the V is a U. Hope that makes sense.?1 point

IMO, that was a planchet flake off another coin that was off the obverse surface and then flipped and struck into this coin with subsequent "freeing" of the fragment. The planchet of this coin ought to weigh close to the 9.4 gm standard.1 point

Yup, F33. Take a look at my varieties website (below) to help with identifying obverse/reverse varieties.1 point

Yes I am probably suffering due to not enough light . That picture was in my room with the lights off and one small clip on spotlight on my pc desk shining down on my knees lol . So it probably struggled for detail. Normally light isn't so much a problem its the pics with more than one coin and all the reflections and shooting through plastic pages. I just hate to list coins I know are 10x better than the pics show. But sometimes the coins behave and still still for a few seconds1 point
