Post unification? this is basically the standard Catalog for german Coins Schön available on Amazon. It is however in German. A more comprehensive Catalog is German coins 1601 to present from Krause which is in english Krause for an unbelievable price of 97 quid..... used....!!! or €56 used on German Amazon Krause I'm shocked at those prices!!!! I bought this Cat a few years back and the price on the cover is $59!!!

I think this is just corroding from the inside. The copper jacket has been compromised, allowing the steel inside to rust. Compare with this penny:

This is the 10 daler plate (think this one's in the Stockholm museum). As far as I understand it, these were mostly used as shipping ballast to exchange for goods at the proposed destination (or wherever the copper price was best), although the lower denominations did circulate. Much of the Swedish plate in the market today (about 3000 pieces) was recovered from the wreck of the Nicobar in 1987. I don't know where mine came from, but it's almost certainly marine salvage judging by the condition. Still weighs in at 237.5g though.

For me the answer is simple: keep the coins you most enjoy having and get rid of the others. Collecting is primarily about enjoyment. If investment becomes more important, then coins might not be the best things to invest in. I personally feel that a 100+ years BU coin is likely to have more potential from an investment viewpoint than a modern RM coin unless the price of bullion changes significantly.

No way...all is modern RM trash.The only way you can make on this crap is bullion increases. Buy history....simples.
