jaggy Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 That seals it then, Jag! They seem reasonably up front on the proxy system!Congrats on the wins! Certainly seems to be my experience. In the time I have been bidding - and winning - at LCA, I have quite often come in below my max. Quote
jacinbox Posted June 8, 2015 Author Posted June 8, 2015 I got four out of my five lots - all sixpences:2688 - 1855 5 over 3 - UNC - £70 under my max2691 - 1857 - longer line under six pence - UNC or near so - at my max2694 - 1859 9 over 8 - GEF - £140 under my max2709 - 1871 - No die No. - EF - £60 under my max.I failed to get 2698 - 1963 sixpence. I bid £650 and it went for £850. Second time I have failed on an 1863 That seals it then, Jag! They seem reasonably up front on the proxy system!Congrats on the wins! Or they are taking note of feedback received. I was in the hall and was surprised to find a lot of bidding this time around as opposed to lots opening just shy of the low estimate, which generally used to be the norm at LCA. Quote

Sword Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Won two lots this time. Both under my max bids by £10 and £20. Quote
just.me Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 I won 4 of the 9 lots I bid on, 3 were at my max bid and the 4th was £40 lower than my max.my max on another lot was the same as the hammer price, I didn't win it so I guess floor bids must take precedence or maybe just the way the bidding worked out? In this situation, the bid received first has priority. Quote

Perhaps I have been very unlucky with proxy bids for a long time with LCA.Thanks for letting me know. Quote
