The problem and the irony with banks, is that they cant be trusted with money..

Like letting a junkie look after your medicine cabinet....

Like letting Dracula look after the blood bank

Like leaving half a takeaway pizza in the lounge whilst mrs Peter and my good self were out of the room and our Springer took a chance.

This 'James Hughes' or whatever his real name is seems to have been busy lately!

I've just heard from another customer/dealer friend of mine. He received an £800 cheque that bounced and then found this topic via google.

Posted

He must be hoping that someone will send the purchased items before the cheque clears.

He knew what he had done.Tail between his legs he sloped off to his bed.

Just couldn't resist it.

For my birthday meal last year my daughters cooked me a beef roast....but failed to mention one of our cats decided he was going to have a bite at it 1st.

Has anyone contacted ebay about this fraud?

They can surely ban his IP address.

Posted

Nothing to do with ebay. There are some people that sell things without ebay!

Seems he trying all avenues.

Coin fair dealers are also at risk.

Ebay will have all details on this scumbag which needs handing over to the police.

Posted

Dealers might accept cheques from people at fairs, but only ones you know could pass a cheque over and take the goods with them. Everyone else waits.

Posted

And that is fair enough too.

Do you get many cheques these days ?

I can't think of any reason I would want to get a chequebook.

cheers

Garrett.

You often get people with chequebooks at fairs, particularly older customers. The other option for the buyer is to take what potentially is a very large wad of cash. To take cards on the spot you need some means of connecting to the card processor which involves a card reader which you can plug into a phone with an internet connection. Many dealers don't have a website, so card payments are not something they would consider.

My mum still lives by the cheque.

She has a cash point card but I have to escort her and count out the money.

I do direct debits/paypal/credit&debit cars.She isn't interested.
