As someone who since returning to the UK has found that the only way of finding coins is via ebay and one or two online auctions that ive found through searching i hear alot on this forum of buying via Dealers can the team recommend a few good Dealers whose sites i can continue to look through. Ive bought from Declan and a few others on this site .Is there a list somewhere. Getting to coin fairs may be the best bet but to be honest its difficult finding time to get down to Coin fairs even if i new where they were.

It might be better to look around the net, and maybe put forward said dealers and proposed coins for comments? You'd probably to learn a little bit more, as would we? :)

Edit: I'll not make the change, but rather highlight how much I detest auto spell, and even auto word changes on this bloody iPhone! Grrr

I think we all have favourites and dealers we trust. However different dealers stock different coins so it depends on what you're after. Most of my bookmarked dealers specialised in late hammered coinage for example.

So as Coinery says, you might be better posting details of coins that you like for comment rather than getting lists of dealers whose stock doesn't interest you, or is priced or graded outside what you're prepared to consider.

DEspite what you say, fairs are absolutely the best place for a beginner to go, and you'd more than likely - if you went to the Midland for example - meet one or two of the dealer members here, and benefit from their advice and experience.

All great advice just me getting a bit ahead of myself i guess.

I live in South East England not to far from Southampton.

My current focus is on Victoria pennies and shillings and King Edward VII pennies and shillings.

Thanks all for your advice.

Looking preferably for Uncirculated or near so

lots of good people will help on this forum ,i only buy pennies .I don t want you to make mistakes that cost you to much money and the best thing is get used to grading and read as much as possible.

The british bronze penny 1860-1901 is available on michael gouby site michael coins well worth buying and reading his web site. The bronze coinage by michael freeman is the one main reference more commonly used and i would buy them both study and keep looking on the forum.

I have recently purchased the identification of British 20th ||Century Bronze coin varieties - i already have Gouby.

Perhaps i need to buy a reference book on grading?
