Colin88 Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Why oh why is this site still so bad ??..I know that Spink have no longer have any real interest in ordinary collectors but even so.....Almost everything I have tried to do just now comes up with some sort of error refering back with a request to email the Spink IT dept or comes up with some unitellegible techno message that I suspect only Bill Gates would understand....and the site is counter intuitive.......very poor show. VickySilver Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Wow, how the mighty have fallen. Their SNC was absolutely stellar in the 1990s through early 2000's. I have so many coins from then that have not showed up since, at least as far as quality and rarity. They are essentially IMO just an also-ran in this day. Quote
Gary1000 Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Spink have no longer have any real interest in ordinary collectors. Are they not leaving it too their Baldwins arm to look after that sort of thing Quote
damian1986 Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 I'll help them fix it in exchange for them pulling the upcoming Leicester 1d of William I and duly sending it my way. Quote
TomGoodheart Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 (edited) Are they not leaving it too their Baldwins arm to look after that sort of thing Are they not different companies? Baldwins are part of the Stanley Gibbons Empire, which includes SG, Noble, Baldwins, Dreweatts, Bloomsbury, etc. Spink are just Spink. Albeit international. What I don't understand is that with all their money they seem to have trusted their IT to an amateur ... Edit: And just for amusement I tried a simple search just now. After a minute of waiting it told me to log in. So I attempted ... Nothing. I disabled Active X filtering ... Still nothing. I put in my details, clicked "Login" and .. FA Been like that.. what, two years now? I did email a few times complaining but can't be arsed now. Pointless them having a website as far as I can see. . Colin88 Posted December 11, 2014 Author Posted December 11, 2014 Still awaiting any sort of response from Spink to my emails...and this is from a paying customer who is trying to use their system in order to effectively give them money.....unfortunately I get the distinct impression that Spink are still very much in that acedemic, Ivory Tower world of yore....and we are just the still the little people...... damian1986 Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 The main issue is content management for me, things keep disappearing. Thanks for taking away the Numismatic Circulars.I'll help them fix it in exchange for them pulling the upcoming Leicester 1d of William I and duly sending it my way. It is a nice coin if you are willing to ignore the reverse stress cracks.I suppose actually if I were giving serious consideration to doing ~ £4,000 on it the cracks would be problematic. These sorts of imperfections generally bother me far less with hammered than milled, though that may change.
