This Elizabeth I Sixpence reads "IVORE", and it appears that someone has tried to insert the missing T. It certainly looks like there is the base of a T, and a trace of the top stroke.

The coin has a rather blotchy tone, but it is the larger flan variety. We know that errors on hammered coins aren't regarded as important, but they are still very interesting.

You mean blatant errors such as this but unrecorded?

I'd love to one day extend the work by BCW to include legend errors and, as I've mentioned before, perhaps even a die-study!

You just can't have a job at the same time, unfortunately! Wouldn't that be a great way to while away a life? ;)

Inverted A for a V, love it..

Not quite aure, but does the V in POSVI also look like an A?

Someone definitely mislaid/mistook or broke the V punch! This is one of the earliest of the beaded Lis reverses, it would be interesting to see whether it was a one off die, or whether others were made?

That's where a die-study would be an amazing thing to have access to!

Finding enough 2b shillings might be the problem though

Just a bit of one, though the reverse may have been paired up with other obverses? I'm away from my books until tomorrow! :( Edited by Coinery

Peter,

This one's a shilling. Think the bust is good for a Liz1

That's also a very nice bust, are they your images, Mark?

I once knew a girl named Liz and she had a really nice bust!!!

Well that's that, Dave G, we've lost this thread now! ;)

Peter?

It's funny, I once dated a girl called Victoria, she also had an attractive bun bust!

Yes they are my pictures. Almost frightened to comment, not sure where it will go. Should it be called a portrait?

Can I have a copy of the obverse image to cut out and add to my collection/future-website of e1 busts?
