loose54 Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Could someone please confirm the variety of this 1860 penny for me please, the Victorian varieties are the one area I would love to get comfortable with because I think it is a fascinating series. Thanks for any help! Quote
loose54 Posted June 16, 2014 Author Posted June 16, 2014 It has the LCW below Britannia and LC Wyon under the bust. Quote
Nordle11 Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 (edited) Looks like a 1 + B (Freeman) but hard to tell with the wear.It has to be obverse 1 or 1* because the border is beaded, id say not a 1* because the eyes aren't as bulgy as they should be for that die so therefore obverse 1. The reverse has to be A, B or C (again because of the beaded border) and looks to me to have the extra lines within the shield's cross which would point to it being a reverse B. Hope that helps (and is correct lol) get a copy of Freeman you'll have so much fun Edited June 16, 2014 by Nordle11 Quote
