I had an email arrive about some unsold lots they had for 30% under the estimate, underneath they had a link to some British farthings they were selling on the bay, 1844 Geo I etc.

I'm sure it will interest some of our members or upset them lol

Judging from his BIN pricing (usually 2-3 times value) he will not be letting that 1844 go for anything near the current price. It is a nice coin though!

A 2013 Londoncoins EF graded sold for £460 or $773

Surprised they have only graded it VF, it looks a tad better to me!

Exactly, the LC one i just quoted looks worse than the ebay one

The coin is EF...seldom do you see that coin with as good hair definition as it has on the obverse...which is a used sov. die! I think the valuation would be 550-700 someplace. The coin has some circulation marks, and some small stains on the reverse, but is still a rare coin in that condition. IMHO...Ha,Ha

Are you at risk of confusing rarity and grade Bob? Perish the thought! :o

Nice strike to be sure but quite a few contact marks and a rim hit on reverse of some note...

BTW, closed at 425 USD..

I had been watching a few of these, but got sidetracked with some DIY at the weekend, so completely forgot about them...... :(

That 1844 was definitely better than VF but a few knocks and bumps.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds eBay increasingly relegated to the back burner.

At £260ish there's still a bit of mileage in it for somebody.
