azda Posted March 8, 2014 Author Posted March 8, 2014 What's the thoughts on the £2808.00 (including commssion) that the1919KN penny sold for? Comparing and considering the condition of that one (Lot 1887 ) I'm wondering now if it makes their "1 of 8 finest known" on offer at £3250 a reasonable buy.....? I'll answer my own post then..... .......reason I ask is I bid £2250 on the 1919KN (at the £1-2K estimate I think it was) and thought I was sure to get it. When I last mentioned the LC example on offer at £3250 in another thread, most thought it well over priced......so is this the way prices are going for top grade pennies? Certainly the LC coin looks nice, but it's been sitting around for a while (at least a year) which would leave me slightly suspicious that that it doesn't view quite so well in hand. Surprising they don't put it in one of their own auctions, as it's a fair amount of money to be tied up for so long. The reason they probably have'nt auctioned it yet is perhaps its too expensive and they know it Quote
Peckris Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Well thanks for that, must be a bit of brain fade.....I think that is only an average struck obverse, decent reverse with better than average lustre. I still place that at 2k and think you should shop a bit & be patient. These auctions, and particularly the onlines (such as DNW) have been verging on lunatic prices. Just try and guess how much that would have gone for at Heritage with a slabbed Red and Brown 64 with lots of flowery descriptions!!!Patience isn't one of my better atributes.....my problem is keeping track of which auctions are coming up. A diary page on the forum would be really useful.Agreed ... and fairs too. Quote

The BNTA events page is a good start. Quote
azda Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 11 days after paying my invoice i'm still waiting on my auction lot. Anyone else or just me? Quote
azda Posted March 17, 2014 Author Posted March 17, 2014 (edited) So as i was saying, i'd paid for my lot on the 4th March and by last Thursday 12th March i'd still not heard if it had been posted nor had it arrived to me, so i sent an email to Semra Cetin and asked if it had been posted yet.A fairly quick reply came on the Friday with the response that she''lol email again the same day with the Tracking number, so after waiting on the Friday for the answer and throughout the weekend i decided to AGAIN ask today (Monday 17th March) to ask of it had been posted yet, i replied to her email in which she stated she's get back to me ASAP with the details and politely signed "regards" at the end of the email.I got the quick response (maybe an hour later) with the Tracking number and her rather cheeky REGARDS written in capitals and after checking the Track, it had only been posted on the 12th March, 8 days AFTER i'd paid. What i'd like to know is, WTF is it with this womans attitude to customers, she is as unfriendly as a fart in a spacesuit and really needs bringing down several pegs. The customer Service is shocking and i really don't expect to be waiting 8 days AFTER i've paid for it to be posted. It may well be try first and past time i'll be bidding with them, oh and i'm STILL WAITING on my coin Edited March 17, 2014 by azda Quote

azda Posted March 17, 2014 Author Posted March 17, 2014 Yup you are correct Peter, customer Service is important if a seller/dealer or auction house want repeat business, but i'm finding this woman Rather obnoxious if you ask more than 1 question Quote

If they really don't care about the customer, why don't they eff off and let someone who does, work there.I'm sure most would agree, basic manners go a long way, especially in business. Quote
RChris Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 You now might appreciate why I refer to her as Semra Cretin ....... she's just a horrible person to deal with, treating customers with so much disrespect. Not that my name for her is respectful of course - but they say respect is earned. Quote
Chris Perkins Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 I once had in my possession what was probably one of the very best 1905 Half crowns available. I was in Kent, a stone's throw from London coins, so called them on the telephone hoping to be able to bring it along personally to be authenticated as the source was a private person and my intended customer wanted it 100% verified despite the fact that I was happy with it and so was cousin Monk whom I'd also showed it to. I was treated as if I were a clueless member of the public that was excited at just finding a Churchill crown! And was told that I couldn't bring it in personally (although I have been there in person in the past). In the end I sold it raw for £10k and the new owner (a very good customer/friend of mine) sent it to one of the US TPGs to be slabbed and it came back as MS66 (or possibly MS65 I can't remember).I've met Mr Lockett a few times, and have nothing against him or anyone else there including Semra who has in the past been a big help by sending me big excel files of price-data, but I do think they are at the very least under staffed and I also know from experience that as a coin dealer you do quickly get fed up with people calling up because (for example) they've just found a large 50p that they think is a piedfort, or they have a 1979 NEW PENCE 2p etc etc....and it's very easy to get snappy and treat all callers and possibly emailers too, with a certain default cynicism. 1 Quote
azda Posted March 17, 2014 Author Posted March 17, 2014 She simply should'nt be doing two jobs if she can't handle the questions and at least be polite in her reply. She told me Friday she'd get back to me with the tracking but nothing came and thats why i had to ask again, if she'd done the job she said she was going to do Friday i would have had no need to bother her again 1 Quote
RChris Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 I once called and asked her to bring a 2K coin to view at Wakefield.......when I got there she'd forgotten about it - no apology, didn't care, wasn't bothered. I was dismissed by being ignored as she then started talking to another poor sod of a potential customer. Quote
azda Posted March 18, 2014 Author Posted March 18, 2014 So coin arrived today wrapped in a plastic bag wich was then wrapped in tin foil. This is a million pound plus company? Quote
