azda Posted December 4, 2013 Author Posted December 4, 2013 If yesterdays prices at spink are anything too go by, i cant see any bargains today however good luck aswellI was never going to expect a bargain considering how the last DNW sale went and how coin sales in General this year have gone Quote

Rob Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 I've got one so far, and at less than expected. Quote
azda Posted December 4, 2013 Author Posted December 4, 2013 (edited) I've got one so far, and at less than expected. 1 or 2 have went cheaper then estimate, but i was surprised at the 2 lot numbers above. The Halfcrown was nice, but not 440 quids worth, thats 530 with commission. What did you get so far Rob? Or IF you wish to divulge Edited December 4, 2013 by azda Quote
mhcoins Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 I thought lot 2113 was a very nice piece. Fully round and much better than the normally encountered halfcrowns of this mintmark. Quote
Rob Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 I thought the Tower halfcrown would do well judging by recent offerings. I bought the Briot milled penny (2118) Quote

mhcoins Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 i was only defending it as i bought it for myself. A little more than i expected but its the best i have found so far for this mm. Quote
jaggy Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Following the bidding live but audio not working. Anyone else got he same problem? Quote

It was one i was going to bid on, but to much for me eventually Nice coin that Rob, what was the Price?360. The same as the second one (2262). The first had less wear to the obverse, the second better struck on the reverse but a little off-centre. If the second had been cheap I would have bought that too. Quote

Rob Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Those commonwealths are doing wellThe last year or two these have gone up in leaps and bounds. Not sure why given the monotony of design. Quote
NRP Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Must admit there wasn't much I was interested in and decided not to bid. The few I would like will go way above what I am prepared to bid. I am interested in what the 05 halfcrown goes for, could someone post the result of it on here in due course ? Quote
jaggy Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 There are a few I am interested in. But, finances dictate, I need to be targeted. Quote
Accumulator Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Lot 2501 looked superb to me, even though it's not something I would usually collect. It went at over double estimate Quote
Rob Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Lot 2501 looked superb to me, even though it's not something I would usually collect. It went at over double estimate A bit messy on the reverse at 4 o'clock and flat on the crown. Too expensive. Quote
rpeddie Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 DNW and spink auctions prices always make me thankful for good old ebay Quote

Rob Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 DNW and spink auctions prices always make me thankful for good old ebay There was value both created and destroyed today. There were a few things that were relatively cheap for the specialist today, but the prices of the Mary and P&M groats beggared belief. If I was paying £2K for one I would expect a very nice full EF and better. Quote
jaggy Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 (edited) Bought Lot 2564 at £20 below the low estimate. Edited December 4, 2013 by jaggy Quote
